Best Tint %?

I was wondering what you guys think would be the best tint percentage on an ABP TSX? I'm thinkin of gettin 20% on the front two windows and doin limo on the back windows. Do you guys thats kinda too dark cuz i had 30% and limo on my recent ride and i wanna do somethin darker.

I see you're in California. Check out this link that was posted by Nicodemus on another thread. According to that list California legal tint is 70% on the front windows. If you put 20% on the front windows you'll get ticketed. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks, jlukja. You beat me to it.

Yeah, I'm doing the darkest legal tint (which here is 35% all around). Darker looks cool, but the cops around here are unblievably anal and looking cool just isn't worth the hassle of dealing with the cops every other day. On second thought, we may wait until we get to FL, because there its 28% on the front and 15% on the rear sides and 15% on the rear window.

I live in GA where the tint law was repealed last year. There is currently no restriction on tint here (though I'm sure that will last only as long as the next session of the GA state congress).

Um, majin, that list was updated as of July 4th of this year, and it says GA has a limit of 32%. Maybe the list is wrong, but if I were you, I'd double-check.

Here:

Georgia

* Visor...............6"

* Front doors...........32%

* Rear doors........Any%

* Back window.......Any%

(b) Except as provided in this Code section, from and after January 1,
1990, it shall be unlawful for any resident person to operate a motor
vehicle in this state:

(1) Which has material and glazing applied or affixed to the front
windshield, which material and glazing when so applied or affixed
reduce light transmission through the windshield; or

(2) Which has material and glazing applied or affixed to the rear
windshield or the side or door windows, which material and glazing
when so applied or affixed reduce light transmission through the
windshield or window to less than 32 percent or increase light
reflectance to more than 20 percent.

I went to a local tint shop and was filled in on the repeal of the tint law here in GA. As I stated, it will most likely be rewritten into law next session, but as of now, there is absolutely no tint law in GA. See the details for yourself

Laws aside, what would look best on a Carbon Grey/Ebony TSX?

Someone around the neighborhood has a charcoal metallic 2004 Accord which, to me, looks to be a near-match for CG. They have their windows lightly tinted and it made the car look "slab-like" in my opinion doing nothing for the overall appearance of the vehicle.

Given the TSX's superior lines, I feel there is more lattitude to play with tint %s, but due to the grey, there is less lattitude. LimoBlack? 50%? Thoughts?

Thanks,
Dr. Daryl

i've seen it in person on a ebony interior and it looks great. i have parchment and am thinking about ~28% since the lighter interior will show more, thus needing a darker tint.

I'm always worried about the tinting because

1. bubbles and scratches. I put my windows up and down a lot, plus i'm always cleaning my car both inside and out, so i'm not sure how that would work with a tint job

2. getting the tint installed. I really dont want someone climbing all around my backseat to put tint on it.....and even the front. (you can tell i'm a CLEAN FREAK about my car........she is always the cleanest car on the road)

plus my car is registered in PA, and i'm not 100% clear on what the tint regulations are in that state

My motto is "I didn't buy a $30000 car to get it dirty! I could do that with a $1000 car!"

There you go, PWPTSXER. Check that link.

And I take your word for it, Majin. I just wanted to make sure you didn't end up getting pulled over for what you though was no reason. GO LIMO!!!

*edit* According to that list, PWP, your limit is 70% all around. That sucks...

I'm not sure what you mean by "state". I believe tint shops have many different shades of tint, normals ones are 50% and 35%, but others exist as well. Call a shop up and ask.

No problem Nic, I actually don't even have tint yet, I was just getting the details from my local tint shop. I'll probably end up going with 20% whenever I get around to actually tinting.
