Best Aux in solution today?

So i've been doing some research on how to install an Aux-in jack for my 2004 non-navi MT TSX. So far the best thing i found is the HONAUX4 adapter from soundgate but that was from 2006 apparently according to the threads. Is there anything better nowadays?

I have an '05 Non-Nav and I have my iPod hooked up in place of the XM receiver antenna using a Dice Electronics adapter. It displays the track info on the head unit and lets me control the iPod through the steering wheel controls and change playlists through the head unit. I'm not sure if you have the connection for it, but they might be worth checking out. I know that there is an Aux selection available using Dice adapter, but again, this is for an '05, which has the XM standard in the head unit.

Good luck!

You might want to check the Audio/Video forum in Off Topic, or just do a search here for more threads.

I think he said he did a search. The question is whether there is newer gear than 2006 adapters....I was interested in finding an adapter myself...I bulked away because of the older type of electronics available.

Yea the most recent one i could find is the HONAUX4, i guess ill just have to settle for that. If it works it works... and it doesn't seem THAT out of date. By the way, if i'm not installing a charging adapter do i still need that ground loop isolator?

I'm sure you've compared the honaux4 to the isimple. I think the honaux4 has the edge since you can run your ipod in a mode where you get text displayed on your radio and you can control the ipod at the same time. However, I have yet to see whether the honaux4 adequately uses the navigation screen for text disaply or control. I know the isimple has full integration and control via the nav screen though.

This will be no help for an 04 HU that has no aux and is not satellite ready (there is no text support, just track number and disc number).

The PCB in the 04 HU actually is set up for aux-in, there are just a few components missing... guess it wasn't time for that feature just yet?

You might be interested in the adapters from gromaudio.com they offer line in only, ipod, and USB....

I found a HU from an 06 for $99 local. This has aux in, the upgraded display, and works with the steering wheel buttons on the 04. Also give you the option to do full xm/sirius integration if you want...

The GromAudio Aux-in products look similar to SoundGate's except its $15 cheaper; maybe i'll go with this brand instead. Oh and i dunno how i'm gonna be able to find a 2006 TSX HU lol.

If you have, or want to get, an iPhone/iPod, the DICE Electronics kit is excellent. It gives you an AUX to use as well as the digital connection for apple products. I have one in my 2005 w/navi and it's very easy to install/use.

USASpec unit here with no complaints. No gucci display on my 04 but I don't need to know what's on my own iPod. I also added in an XM tuner to the AUX input on the USASpec unit so I have iPod and XM radio through a common connector which shows up as a CDC input.

Watch out for Grom and its USB connection, there is a thread in here (or somewhere else) where someone had trouble getting USB to work even though Grom advertised for it. They ended up telling him something like: Ok, i guess it doesn't work then!.

I am/was interested in a USB connection that doesn't discard my XM. I remember doing an extensive search where I ended up just saying ....eeeh screw it.

I friend of mine has GROM-IPOD for two years now, and it works flawlessly. This is why I consider getting GROM USB myself. I will do some more research and keep you posted.

I recently bought the PAC uPac-Hon1 adapter for my 2005 TSX. It cost me aroun $106 shipped from buy.com. Installation and setup were pretty easy. Just make sure to follow instructions and with a little bit of tinkering around you will get the job finished within 20 minutes.
