Anyone know how to remove the dealer emblem?

Instead of using the license plate frame, my stupid dealer but his "stamp" on my car by making me drive around with his emblem put on the rear. Does anyone know of a safe way to remove it? Much obliged.

If its not a sticker you should be able to heat it up with a hair dryer or heat gun, and then run some dentle floss through it. I think thats what everyone else is doing to remove there badges.

Go to your local hardware store and get some goo gone and just let it soak to remove the gunk prob left over.

you can either let it sit in the sun, heat it with a hair dryer, or pour hot water over it. Then use dental floss or fishing line and do a see-saw motion to get the emblem off. If there is a lot of tape left you can use ur finger to rub it off. Use rubbing alcohol or goo gone to remove the remaining small residue left. Follow up with meguires scratchx or a polish of ur choice.

why didn't you ask the dealer to remove it-they would haveif you asked them to. I I was lucky the dealer I bought my tsx from uses only the license plate frame-no stickers

I hate to bring a nearly dead thread back to life, but I think it's time to remove the dealer sticker.
Two issues:
1. Car is two years old, will the color under the sticker be different now?
2. It seems that all the posts I've read have been for dealers "badges" not "stickers". Is the removal process of using floss or fishing line still good?

Here's a "far away" pic of the sticker. Below the left tail light

It's going to be nigh impossible to get the floss under the sticker. An old credit cart or similar flat plastic thing with a fairly narrow edge will do the trick. Heat it up bit being very careful not to bubble the paint or warp the tail light plastic right above it (only really an issue if your using a paint stripper) and then gently work at it with your scraper.

Ammonia is the best thing I've ever found for removing adhesive residue. Dampen the glue with the ammonia a couple times during a 5 minute span and it should get all goopey. You can then use your scraper to easily clean it off. I used to make and install and vinyl signs and had to deal with this problem every day.

Lastly, your paint will be a little darker where the sticker was but it won't show much at all with your paint color. After a couple months in the sun you won't be able to tell it was ever there.

all we do at the dealer is heat gun until its hot enough to peal off with your fingers..just dont leave the gun in one spot for to long. then some spot remover to get rid of any excess glue. then some very light compound if they're is anyu color difference. its really not as hard as everyone makes it seem.

It is pretty simple especially if you have a hair dryer to heat gun to warm it up. I also used floss when I debadged my TSX about 2 years ago. With the left over goo I just used goo gone and then waxed it later on.

Rather than Goo B Gone, I've used Orange Glow which is easier on paint. Worse case - it's faded and you reinstall correctly with 3M body tape. Good luck.

meh, I used goo gone many times and never faded my paints. If you are really anal about this then use some hot soap water, should do the trick.

btw, search!! you will find plenty of threads related to this topic.

luckily the acura dealer I bought my tsx from only uses the license plate frame. When we bought our mitsubishi they had their dealer sticker on the back. We asked them to remove it-they did-no problem.

My dealer too only used the license plate frame. And they almost didn't use that. He got so frustrated with it (had a broken arm, so trying to do it one handed and wouldn't let me help) that he almost said screw it. But then we figured out that he was using the wrong screws. The Mazda dealer used a sticker. Luckily, it had a huge bubble in it so it was really easy to remove. Seems that whoever stuck it on was as incompetant as the <insert obscentiy here> that work in the financing department.

I made note when visiting my dealership that all the cars in the showroom did not have dealer badges, and made sure I mentioned to my salesman that I did NOT want any permanent badge/sticker on MY car. I'm not letting the dealer get free advertising on MY car(financed, not leased too). The license plate frame came off as soon as I got home.

Probably 7 out of 10 cars on the road have some sort of advertising on their car for the dealer. Why they let the dealer advertise on their car for free is beyond me, unless they are in the family that owns it or something like that.

I had the dealer license plate frames off as soon as I got home, too. No free advertising. I already paid them. lol

I had this same issue - asked the dealership to remove it, they did. I would attempt this before doing anything yourself. What are they gonna say, "no"? Doubt it after you bought a 30K car.

Sorry to thread jack, but I haven't had a response in other threads. Is the 3m body tape the same thing as the trim molding tape? I'm trying to attach my backup cam to my trunk lid and I wanted to make sure I got the best all weather tape. Here's a picture of what I got. It has red backing, if that helps. Should I heat up this tape before I apply it?

I have a dealer license plate frame on my car- I have bought 10 cars from this dealer over the years and receive excellent service on my cars. (alot of it free). I therefore, give them "free" advertising. Too each their own-don't like it-take it off.

THIS sounds like a good idea. Next time I'm in for service I'll ask them to do it.

Thanks

I bought a Toyota in 2002, and was able to scrape off teh sticker that evening ... orange wood sticks (used for manicures) are soft and won't splinter. I used Goo Gone to de-badge my TSX last August (after sawing off the badges with dental floss), by wiping it off after applying, there was no damage to the finish, but i did a couple of waxings with cleaner wax anyway to smooth out and baby the finish. Looked great when I was done.

Bought from Performance Acura in Chapel Hill (they're part of Hendrick). I asked them NOT to install a sticker and was told they don't use stickers or badges. They also sell Porsches, BMWs, etc, so perhaps it's a default thing.
