Any word on the GTech Pro?

Anyone have any opinions on a product called the GTech Pro Competition, it measures HP/TQ and other parameters and I believe it plugs into the lighter (not sure about that) its compact and requires no wiring. Any comments positive or negative will be greatly appreciated.

Its a good product and I like it. But take its results with a grain off salt. They are not 100% accurate. But still it gives you a decent indication of performance and can help you in learning how changes in shift points and launches affect your acceleration.

On the other hand..its kinda expensive for something you will probably only use for 2 weeks. Unless you keep doing work to your car. A better idea might be to have 4 friends pitch in for the thing and share it

fdl is exactly right, the gtechs are accurate but not precise. That is they will give the same readings over and over which let you do things like figure out how to best launch yoru car, shift etc(accurate) but the readings they give aren't the true values(precise) Still a good tool.

It is gettiing better with no software/firmware upgrades. It is at $250 and ther is no discount that I can see.

I may buy one at $150-$200 shipped.

I am the happy owner of one.

I have done exactly what said above and struck a deal with one of mine friends, and bought a second hand Gtech Pro from one fellow on Honda-Tech.com.

Everyone said the Gtech was not accurate, or precise, or both.

We measured and counter-measured the Gtech's measurements, and trust me, it is surprisingly precise. More precise than 1/10th sec on a ¼ mile, and measures the ¼ mile distance dead on.

The only thing we can't figure out with it is how to calculate your braking distance.

Now, it can become imprecise, and for one reason. The module calculates G-forces, gathers the acceleration data in G's and with various calculations, comes up with the measurements we know.

In order for the Gtech to work perfectly at it's potential, you need to install it in your car on a flat piece of land, at 0° dead on. More +/- ° will flaw the measurements, as it will not sense correctly the G forces it recieves.

But as said, nothing like true track numbers to make it official, but the Gtech will save you the money you'd need to rent a track semi-permanently to tune a modified car, or learn how to make the best out of your car.

I got my GTECH off ebay for a good price. Haven't used it on the TSX yet, but I have on the Bimmer and it's pretty accurate, the 1/4 time is suppose to be w/in .1-.2, so that's pretty good.
