I think the problem is Honda auto trannies can't handle too much torque from the V6 engines. My uncle's 2001 TL auto transmission got replaced last month for free.

Just turned over 40k this week ('04 purchased in July '04). No major complaints. The console does not work properly and have noticed the driver's seat shifting ever so slightly when I take a sharp turn with a little speed. I will get those things and the trunk wiring harness that was recalled looked at before I hit 50k.

Way too early to be looking for problems. Give it a good 5K miles and you will then have a "broke-in" car that will only get better. Remember your car is always learning how you drive and adjusting itself accordingly. With your low mileage you've yet to pop its cherry yet (so to speak).

What more if they were V8?

Acura's and Honda's do need more torque though.

Hey Guys and Gals,

I just passed 90K on my 04 .. .of course now everything is out of warranty and is deciding to go wonky (both headlights, brakes, both fog-lights, tires, 3rd brake light, reading light) so lucky me ...
b
this is the 2nd time my driver's side headlight is out ... the first time was the igniter and bulb and it was under warranty ... now they say it's the module, igniter and bulb ... $1100 to fix!

Anyone else having these issues? I really have no problem paying the $1100 if I have to
have my car fixed . .it's the price of having the luxury features, but why should my igniter go again in a mere 8months? (had it changed in October, under warranty)

I've told the dealership to wait while I get a second opinion .. I'm thinking of switching dealerships since I've moved anyway .. anyone have good luck with Sterne in Auroroa?

Any and all advice is welcome.

Thanks!

I had that happen to mine but it is still under warrently (I am just under 40K). That makes me nervous to hear it happened again to someone. I can see paying for a light bulb but there is no way your igniter should go out in 8 months.

I don't own a TSX, but I know of one guy with a 2004 Accord 4-cyl with about 120,000 miles. Its used for 1000 mi/week commutes, so it isn't the best test of transmission durability.

It had fluid exchanges w/OE ATF-Z1 @ 30K intervals, but that's irrelevant.

Marabkai, from past experience, if an ignitor goes it's usually because it overheats, and that's usually because it isn't grounded well enough. You should try and inspect that route, because there's no need in changing ignitors and ballasts if you're grounding is faulty.

good to know .. I'm just upset that these guys who changed it last time did not check that stuff properly ...
It sorta makes sense that you said that though, as it went out just after going through a car wash ... maybe something short it? But again, they should have installed and grounded it properly!

Sorry to hear your problems. You should switch dealership ASAP.

When your brake pads wear out later on, try different ones like Hawk. They make a big difference compares to OEM.

I never had any issue with the headlight except the moisture in one of them. The dealer replaced it under warranty.

Good luck!

Yes. The ignitor is actually located between the ballast and the bulb.

I've had 2 ignitors go on my Accord before I figured out my problem was grounding. I finally resorted to grounding the HID systems with big gauge wire directly on the negative pole of the battery. Resolved my problems.
