Another MSN review (Cdn version)

Here's another positive reveiw on our beloved TSX.
http://autos.en.msn.ca/vip/job.aspx?...Home&pos=Edit3

I wasn't too thrilled about their 0-100kph numbers, but he did nail the point with what our cars is...

"...in its current trim and state of tune, the TSX should be taken and enjoyed immediately for what it is: a superbly-refined, pleasant and comfortable near-luxury sedan that drives with great agility, smoothness and precision. It is modern jazz rather than heavy rock, and the best kind. "

Enjoy...

Oh Yeah! This guy has definitely captured the true essence of the TSX.

It's been interesting to go through the latest reviews... finally; the TSX is being recognized for what it REALLY is!

Yeah, great write-up -- he even likes the styling! ("Classy, elegant" he says.) But some very strange things:

(1) Those 1-100 kph times are just unfathomable -- 8.75 for MT, 9.69 for AT.

(2) The heading of the article mentions as a "con" that the screen is hard to read in daylight. Unless I'm misunderstanding something, there are 3 separate weird things about this:

-- Nothing about this is mentioned in the write-up, just in the heading (did I miss it?)
-- The screen shows up fine in daylight if you have it set for "day time"
-- Nav isn't even available in Canada anyway (right?)

u should see what they said about the cl typeS 0~60 time was mid 7's dissapointing. their probably testing it w/ normal people instead of hard core race drivers like C&D and Motor trend. still that number is pathetic.. msn sux.

Larch...

You've hit the nail on the head on this one.

Even though my earlier comments suggest this review to be very good (and it is overall), things you mention are definitely odd.

The 0-60 blows my mind .... even if the numbers for the TSX are on the high side (and that is yet to be proven as every review seems to indicate a different #), this reviewers figures seem to be off the scale. No way is the TSX that slow!!

As for the Navi ... correct: NOT AVAILABLE IN CANADA.

This begs the question.... is this really a Canadian review.. lol!

A good take on this car none the less.

Just looks like they were not pushing the car hard for speed.
Many people don't use all the available engine revs, etc.
The review is good and who cares about the acceleration times.?
Most of you have driven the car and know what it will do.
What times do you think a VW bug got from them. Real crappy you can bet.
Look at the Ford T-bird in the modern version. Medium size 8cyl
and it's times were just ahead of the TSX.
(C&D August 03)
Cost between 38 and $42,000 US dollars.
0 to 60 between 6.5 and 7.0 sec. (see article)
Standing quarter 15 to 15.2 sec at 95 to 94 mph.
Stops 70 to 0 in 183 ft.
Skidpad .85g
C/D fuel economy observed 16 mpg.
This is a 2 seat roadster but it gives you something to think about
when you say you need a bigger motor in the TSX.
Same magazine reviews the Audi A8L.
$75k dollars U.S. for a 4.2 L 8cyl with 330hp.
0 to 60 in 6.4 sec. 1/4 in 14.8 sec at 96 mph
skidpad at .84g
70 to 0 in 167 ft.
C/D observed milage was 20.
Hell I think the TSX is one hell of a deal!!!

The automotive press really abuses cars to get the numbers they get. Car & Driver always revs the engine to 2,000-3,500 rpm before they "dump" the clutch or release the brake (on automatics). Plus they speed shift. If this guy drove it liked he owned it, I think the numbers could be right. Plus, it's to 62 mhp rather than 60.

As far as I'm concerned, the numbers only make sense for comparison, anyway. I have a sense of what a 7-second-to-60 car feels like, and I know it's pretty satisfying. I'm never gonna rev it to 3000 before I release the brake, anyway.
