advice for black exterior tsx

bought this color because i just plain like it but finding out fast how much this color like to show dirt.

still willing to keep this with some extra effort on my part but what else can i do to keep the car as pristine as possible with hopefully the least effort

a friend suggested putting on a clear bra in the front. anything else?

If there is one near by, I think a TOUCHLESS Automatic car wash should be time saving.

But NOT the normal car washes with the brushes and etc!

I have a black tsx too...

you've probably heard this somewhere, but it works like a charm

go to autozone/walmart/target
get a CALIFORNIA CAR DUSTER

clean your car, put on a fresh coat of wax (do this every 1-2 months)

as instructed, let the wax on the duster cure (2 days), shake vigurously everytime you use it, and just dust the car clean!!
do it two times a day, takes 3 minutes at the MOST!

without rain, my black car is clean for at least 3 weeks without a real wash

when you get rid of dust early, it doesn't catch anything else that eventually becomes dirt that needs to be washed off

be diligent in doing this easy task, and you'll love ur black car everyday

God bless

I have a california duster too, i'd say for the most part its good. Just be careful and don't go over zealous on that thing as ur dry picking up dirt. To me, if you just want to get off everyday driving dust, that is, the roads are clean and theres just city dirt on the car and stuff i recommend picking up these items:

Optimum no rinse wash and microfiber towels.

Do it once every few days if you don't drive it in wet conditions, its quick and you can get the dirt off your car with a spray bottle in about 10 minutes. Be extra careful cause rushing to clean black cars only causes swirls = really really ugliness.

the clear bra works very well for proventing paint chips on the front ( I have one, though on silver) - recommended!

Had a Black Accord Coupe.....
  • NEVER x 1000 go to auto car wash
  • NEVER x 1000 use car wash brush
(both are no-brainers but I had to say it)
  • Cleaning/drying towel are key to minimizing paint swirl: use microfiber or 100% cotton without any synthetic stitched hems
  • Wax every 2-3 months (carnuba) or 4-6 months (polymer) I used Zaino
  • Change your bucket of soapy water often to minimize stirring up the tiny debris which scratch
  • The above suggestions are to prevent the dreaded black paint swirl marks.
Enjoy the shine for the 4 hours you have it, black paint is a chore.

you gotta buy it onlin i think, pwp, i think zaino might be overkill for a pwp. They usually work best on darket colors.

looks like zaino is a complete system for everthing inside and out.
is it overkill to order the z2 package for a brand new car?

also it rained here today and i already have water spots on the black surface.
do all steps have to be complete in one go and should i wait till no more rain to even bother to start?

Yes, you do need to do the wash, clay, and seal processes in one go.
If you garage the car overnight, then the following day, you can layer more of the sealant on.
If you start on a Friday, then by Sunday evening, you'll have 3 layers on the car, and that should be sufficient to protect it for the next 3-4 months before you put another layer on.
You can use the Z6 to bring the shine right back up after washing.

You'll also want to invest in a decent set of tools for washing - lambswool mitt and boarhair brush for the half of the car.
Also use the twin bucket method - one soapy warm water, the other clear, ever panel change, rinse the mitt thoroughly in the clear bucket.
Alternatively, if you use a hose to rinse, then get the lance attachment from Wolfgang Car Care to soap up the car. Still use the clear bucket to rinse the mitt/brush.

Finally, a good Oxo/Meguiar wheel brush.
