50% tint?

I got hassled by the cops after a week of having 35% all around. My question is would it look weird to just take out the front period or is 50% light enough to see through so i wont be hassled by the police.

I would just go 50 all around.. having dark windows in the back and lighter in front is just weird, IMO.. I like the continuity and cars shouldn't look like suv's or minivans.. having dark windows on only in the back == yuk!

What do you ppl think
1) 35% back and Nothing in front
2) 35% back and 50% front
3) spend another 2bills plus whatever to remove the old tint and get 50% all around

Do you guys think since the 50% is so light and with 35% in the back it wont even look too much like a tint and the cops wont bust my balls for it.

Big Pimpin,
You can fool the cops much easier with 35% in the back and 50% in the front. But it depends won hat you like.

Do you have any scratches on your tints? Where did you get it??

front one scratch, the cause of it i think is because i was going to a store meeting at 5:30am and it was cold as hell and that made the rubber hard which is probably the cause of the scratch. Other than that i havent had any problems but then again i had it for a week and a half.

yeah i saw someone with 20% in the back and 35% in the front and it made the 35% look really light. So i want to make the illusion of having almost no tints in the front just slightly darker.

the thing with rolling windows down for cops.....it might be raining/snowing/hailing/ and maybe it would even scratch the tints??
Seems like a lose lose situation for a PWP car to get 35% in the front.

Andynolife do you think that 50% will look dark on a pwp or do you think with the 35% in the back the 50% in the front will create an illusion of having almost no tint in the front?

denfinitely wont do any illusions .. ~~ my frd also has a PWP with 35/50 .. still got pull over and got tix cuz the tint .. ~it wont see a big diff. without looking it really close ~ it just seems not workin on PWP .. or maybe cuz his boom boom exhaust get the attention who knos .. ~~ many PWP TSXs in Vancouver with 35% of tint .. i think it's all abt luck and how u beheavir when u got cops attention .. ~ and 35% looks not nth in sunny day but looks hella dark in a couldy day or nite .. ~~ and TSX tend to make the tint darker .. compare to other cars IMO ...

In the meantime, you might want to keep your sunroof lid open, (if not the sunroof itself). That might help get enough light in to give the impression the tint is higher percentage.

When the cop "tests" your tints, do they just test the front driver's side window or all 5 panels? B/c if they only do the front windows, what you might try doing is switch out the 50% into the front and back and then tint the rear trunk glass with something dark like a 20% or even darker. This would make the overall effect darker b/c most of the light comes in through the rear trunk glass anyways. So if you are stopped and tested it would come up as 50%.

a friend of mine did this...what you think?

Really depends on your interior color. If you have a darker interior, 20/35 wont look that obvious. I have a NHB w/ ebony interior and have 20 percent in the back and 35 percent in the front. It blends just perfect. A friend of mine has the same setup on a lighter interior and you can really see the difference.

One option you can go with, which was recomended to me by the shop, is that you can go 35 percent on the 4 windows and 20 percent on the back window. I have not seen this done, but the person at the tint shop mentioned it looks really nice. Gives the perfect illusion that the car is actually a darker tint. But looking from the side, seems normal...has anyone dont this? or seen it done?

I believe the regulation in BC is that no tints are allowed on the front windows (other than the factory 75%(?), that is). So even if they do test at 50%, it would technically still be an infraction, if the cops are anal about it.

Big Pimpin, you're saying it's $200 at Ideal Tints for 7 windows? Do you have to know someone there for that kind of deal? Tempted to do 50% all around on mine, but I have to wind down my driver's window every day -- damn parking card at work...

my cousin got it for 200 so when he scheduled my appointment for me they said around 300 then my cousin told them why should my cousin pay 300 when i only paid 200 so then they said they would do it for 200. The starting rate for 7 windows is 230.

Do cops only pull you over when you're moving for tinting windows?
if they see a parked car with 20% tints, would they just ticket the car or something?
