2007 TSX PS fluid replacement

Getting ready to do niece's car. Has 78k miles and PS fluid is nasty dark brown.. I have only done PS fluid replacements on Toyota and Lexus.

I like to replace PS fluid without starting the engine. I disconnect return line from rack and divert it to waste container, plug return port on sump and slowly turn wheels lock to lock while keeping sump topped-up with fresh fluid.

I notice that the TSX PS pump is higher than the sump. Will my usual method work with this arrangement? When I disconnect the return line to drain the sump, won't the fluid drain out of the pump suction line causing slugs of air to enter the system? What keeps the fluid in the pump suction line from draining back into the sump when the car is turned off? Check valve?

I don't want to use the turkey blaster method because I want to replace all of the fluid as efficiently as possibe. Thanks.
