2005's out first week of Nov in Canada
I just talked to a manager at the Acura in Toronto and he tells me that they have limited information on the cars coming out in Canada.
1) There will be a different blue than the 2004 model. It will be "a more darker blue." There will also be the Carbon Grey.
2) There will be a navigator available at a cost of $3,200. (All prices in Canadian dollars)
3) There will be an extra charge for the automatic, $1,300.
4) And most importantly, the MSRP will be $36,100 for the base model. (2004's were $34,800)
5) The information kits are coming out at the beginning of November and the actual cars will be in the shops one to two weeks into November.
Happy shopping to all that are interested!!!

Let me guess, they're trying to talk you into a 2004 model -- right? I have now heard at least three different versions of this story, and all of them have had drastically different "official" numbers mind you! LOL

Thats quite the price hike. So if I'm understanding this correctly, an AT TSX will now cost $37,400 and a AT w/Navi $40,600?
Thank god I bought an 04.
BTW rastaman, I think the new Blue is the same blue the US got for 04. Its called Artic Blue Pearl which is actually alot lighter than our Indigo Blue. Could be wrong though.

Well, extra incentive to get the 6MT now... that's a big jump in price - it was a better deal below the "sweet spot" of $35K. I'm assuming the prices quoted above don't include the higher freight costs either? Dang, that's getting up there.

if it is the American blue, it is indeed much lighter than the Canadian purple. IMO the silver blue - Meteor Silver - is the nicest of the blues. We still do not get it.
That Navi is really expensive. Acura has NO JUSTIFICTION for raising Can $ other than profit (fair enought). The Can $ has appreciated enough that our price should be going down not up! Likewise the new RL - wicked car, but huge pricew increase only in Canada.

Re: the price, I understand that many people heard different things.
What I was told was directly from the manager at a dealer in Toronto. This person that I spoke with understands that I would not be looking for the 2004 model. So I doubt that he would be trying to sell me a 2004. I would rather get an Audi if the 2005 TSX didn't not comply with my personal standards (was that put better?).
I think that there might be price differences due to your location. I know that I was told that if I buy a car in a small town I will get a higher price than if I buy in the Toronto due to higher turnovers in the city. Maybe there are other factors when it comes to pricing these vehicles.
As for the FX (foreign exchange), the Canadian prices should go down or stay the same. Our dollar continues to get stronger everyday!!! 80.5 cents to the US dollar today!!!
Vegas here I come!

I understand that there is no justification to raise the price. But Acura and Honda are one of the rare few car dealerships that are having positive sales growth. Most car dealers are struggling. Even Toyota is behind a little. But when you are selling this strong, who needs to cater to the consumer. They know that we will pay.

I was wondering about the nav:
In Canada our temps are a little colder than our southern brothers in the USA. How will the Nav system hold up with those extreme cold temps? I assume that electronic equipment doesn't like the cold very much.

Well, last Saturday I went to Acura in Markham to take a look at the 05 RL. The salesperson I know told me about the $36100 MSRP and he said this: "Man you should be glad that you bought your 04 last year..."
I also heard about the $3k navi like a month ago, but the extra cost for AT is news to me.
Oh yeah, the salesperson also said the higher MSRP is for lower interest rate. God knows if its true or not.

domn,
re the colour (color for the USA brothers reading this): The person expressed the blue as "a more darker blue." I would understand that as a blue closer to navy than the Artic Blue in the USA. The Carbon Grey would interest me enough to buy a TSX. And if I get bored with that colour, I might paint it over to something more "pimpish." Mind you, my acountant told me over dinner today that I need to start flipping my cars more frequently. I might not have a chance to do anything with it if she gets her way.

I know because I am in the investments field. If they won't keep the prices the same, they won't reduce rates. Especially when the bank rates are rising (they rose yesterday due to the Bank of Canada raising the prime rate).

I wonder if TL prices will increase as well. If an AT TSX costs $37,400 - I'd seriously consider a TL for $3k more.

If Acura is going to charge $1,000 or so for the AT, that will effectively amount to a raise for the coming model year. I personally think it unlikely that Acura adds to insult by also throwing in an hefty price increase, even though sales were brisk last year.
My guess: Acura holds the line, with a small increase in price to cover inflation, and then a charger for the AT (which I never would have expected).
But, we'll see...

If Acura was going to raise the prices of the 2005 substanially they would have already announced it so as to help move the 2004s. I suspect only a marginal price increase if any -- and that's precisely why we haven't heard anything official yet.

We've had 3 different reports of the $36,100 MSRP for Canada now so I get the feeling its true.
If the AT is in fact $1,300 more, I am serioiusly thanking my lucky stars that I bought an 04 because there is no way in hell I'd be driving a TSX if it cost me $37,400. And as the RL has now shown, Canadian pricing and US pricing seem to have no relation anymore.

1 - TSXnTDOT - Erin Mills Acura
2- rastaman - Downtown Acura
3 - MSZ - Acura of Markham
Not saying I beleive these increaes, just pointing out the varying sources. In Canada, RSX-S prices shot up over 1K CAD.

Another thing that seems odd, is that the MSRP is supposedly up $1,300 AND the slushbox is supposedly costing another $1,300 extra. I think the fact those two figures are the same is a somewhat unlikely coincidence. Worst case, I think someone is counting it twice.

Keep in mind that the RL is a completely new car that is sooooo much better than the outgoing RL, the difference justifies the increase in price IMHO. However, the TSX has very few changes mostly the power passenger seat, I can't imagine that they'd increase the price that much. But who knows.

Maybe the TL is going up as well?
Anyone think our 04's just went up in value as well?

Ahhh....i guess my sales person was pulling my leg haha
Or perhaps it was the last white in Toronto.

Dealer in Los Angeles told me yesterday the tsx msrp was going up 400-500 and the AT was still no charge - only for the rsx.
Either all these salespeople have no clue or they just make it up to pretend to know what's up.
