Exclamation 2005 TSX or TL

in market to purchase either one, but need feedback as to which is car to get.. i'm looking for luxurious feel more than sports driving capability.. road noise and suspension over potholes (live in NYC, the city of a million potholes) is very important.. also, some dealer had mentioned that the TSX suspension is rated for 35K miles while the TL suspension is 70K miles.. is this true?? but is there a difference?? any info would be great help, thanks in advance..

Go with TL.

The TSX will jar you kidneys loose in NYC. It is the only place I have seen a front spring broken by a pothole.

What is better?

The TL suspension is not as taut as the TSX suspension. That makes it worst for mountain curves -- but better for NYC streets.

go with TL, i driven both new ones through LA downtown pot holes with new TSX which i have now and new TL for a week which was a loaner. TL will drive much nicer and smoother than tsx... tsx handles better, but stiff suspension and size makes for a bone jarring ride in urban street.

tsx handles better, but u know the saying...size matters....heavier has its advantage and more money gets you more sound dampning material

I've never heard this before, What does it mean exactly?

The suspension has to be replaced after 35K miles

It means the dealer was wanting to sell him a TL instead of a TSX

Exactly.

s_tsang, don't bother with most of what the salesmen tells you. If you need questions answered, just ask them here. And judging by your wants and needs it sounds like a TL would be the better fit.

You said it yourself. TL all the way!

Don't forget to post pics before your suspension "wears out"......

At least when it wears out, you can get it covered under your 50K mile factory warranty.

2 suspensions = 70k miles.

Actually, some of the TL owners living/driving in NYC have posted that the TL's ride is way too bumpy, and that they might've been happier with an ES330 or Camry.

The TL does have a pretty stiff suspension set up, and having 45 profile tires doesn't help soak up the roughness of the road... althought I personally want a stiffer setup.

So, if the comfort and smooth ride is your thing, look into the ES/Camry.

i completely agree, we also have an 04 Lexus ES 330, the ride is smooth and quiet not like anything tsx or TL is, but then of course the ES 330 is set up for ride comfort and thicker tire... why not go for lexus?

I would pick the TSX.

TL has to many little annoying problems.

TSX all the way.

btw the salesman that told you that stuff about suspensions is an idiot. I cant believe you bought his sales tactic.

Not bashin what you say, but what little problems does the TL have that the TSX doesn't?

TL sounds better for you. TL is more of cruising type of car. Tsx handles better, but it doesn't sound like that's a priority to you.

TSX for sure.
Look the TL is a great car...but, the fuel consumption difference (real difference not the difference you see on the sticker) and the clear fact that the TSX is built better.
...wow what a comment. Yes, the TSX is built better...just shut the door and feel how tight the body panels/seals are. Feel the fit and finish and it is better than the TL; even the chassis is stiffer (that's really saying something against the TL). The quality of the clearcoat versus the TL or any other Honda product (except for the RL) for that matter. I would go with the TSX.

Hey, at least your with Honda and that's all that counts. I like the Camry or ES330 but they are seriously boats. No, like in a flood...they would more likely float than other cars.

thank you!

thanks for all the input.. if anyone else has more, please feel free.. still leaning more towards TL, but will at least give the ES330 a look before deciding.. or maybe wait for the 06 TL or TSX??

I don't know. I can't see anyone below 50 in a ES. But, it is a nice car.

While your at it why not look to save a few K and look at the 265HP Avalon. Its quick and probly handles as well as the ES.

I was given an ES as a loaner when I took my IS in for service. The ES is much bigger and wider than the TL. Suspension is very soft, rides great on the freeway but it will lean hard when you corner fast. Power is not really there either, I had to gas hard to make the car go; but it's very smooth and quiet. The ES does come with heated and A/C seats (not sure what they call it, but it blast cold air), and it does come with the rear shade which was nice. Anyway, I've asked if I can have a RX next time because the ES is just makes me look very old.

test drove the ES330 today.. quite a luxurious feel upon entering the cabin.. very well put together and quiet.. BUT, the initial acceleration is terrible.. not sure if it's me not putting forth the effort to floor it, but it was incredible weak for a V6.. smooth ride and removal of most exterior noise was nice, but the engine was a terrible dissapoinment.. upon completion of the test drive, the dealer asked me what i liked/disliked.. when i told him about the lack of "omph", he mentioned the variable valve timing was not acustomed to my driving habits.. what does that mean?? off to acura dealership to test the TL and TSX, thanks again people..

each car gradually adapts to the way you accelerate, i have CL-S, now have TSX and i drove 05 TL for a week, .. we also have 04 ES 330, trust me, its not weak at all once its broken in. Its not as fast as TL, but it is not slow at all. These 2 cars are tuned differently TL being speed, ES being comfort, once its broken in, speed is quite impressed though you will have to step down a little harder than TL to get that zoom.... cause es is beuilt for comfort not racing... but speed is good enough
