1st Road Trip in my TSX
Took my first road trip in my 06 tsx W/Navi, with the wife and 18 month old kid last weekend from So. Cal. up to Fresno /Clovis area to see some friends then drove over to Sequoia national park.
The TSX is a very comfortable car when it comes to driving over long periods and I finished the journey up to Clovis in 4 hours. The average MPG up there was 31 mpg, and that included driving over the grapevine (I-5 freeway), and got my average speed to 65mph. The navi system came in very useful as I knew exactly where I was, how many more miles to the destination, how many more hours to go, and whether I could make it without having to fill up with gas. Also came in useful to find a rest stop with a Starbucks.
The drive to Sequoia from Clovis was lots of fun as I finally got a chance to test out the TSX on the twisty mountain roads. The best part was that its the off season and no one is up there right now.
On both straight freeway and mountain roads the TSX never felt underpowered or incapable of the tight turns.
The journey back on Monday afternoon was longer than expected as we got stuck inside the National Park for 30 minutes whilst they were working on the road. Driving down the mountain was just as fun as going up as I got to play with the SS to stay in low gears. Navi came in very useful again as we hit LA at rush hour so I managed to find an alternate route home. MPG on the trip home ended up at 32 and the average speed at 60mph.
Below are a few pics of the TSX inside the National park.

Not to get off Acura TSX talk, but whilst I was there I also took some pictures of the wildlife and the Sequoia trees!
The picture of the tree is the General Sherman (largest tree in the world) I took at sunset.
The pictures of the bears was taken as we were driving down the mountain. They were just standing on the side of the road as we drove by.

Sequoia is great! We took a camping trip there a few winters ago. It was very cold, snow everywhere, but still fun. We got a picture in front of General Sherman too! Be careful with the bears, while we were camping one night a bear broke into 2 cars next to us. One had potato chips and the bear smashed the window and tore out the door. Another had antifreeze which they love as well, luckily it didn't manage to get any. The bear boxes are important!

Some great pictures... Love the nature (wish we had a bit more of that here... almost all of the Netherlands is flat, no hills or mountains).
Is this your first TSX or did you own one before ? I'm asking because for me having driven a EuroAccord for over 3,5 years and now driving the new 06 I find the ride so much more quite and relaxing. They tremendously reduced wind and engine noise over the older model. I was wondering if the same goes for the 06 TSX over the previous models... It seems to me it's not just because of the new grill, front, bottom and windscreen wipers. They must have used better or more sound absorbing materials as well.

I just recently moved from the Seattle area to Las Vegas (last week!) and my TSX was great to drive! I was able to fit quite a bit of stuff in the trunk and back seat as well! I was very pleased! And I made the drive in 19 hours!!! I averaged over 36 mpg - filled my tank up when I left Seattle, then in Eureka, CA and then in Hawthorne, NV.....and haven't filled up again since I got here. I love the TSX!!!

I was wondering why it took 19 hours then I saw you went the long way and prolly didnt drive as fast as us, plus we did the all nighter so very little traffic. PHX - Seattle via Las Vegas 21 hours. Seattle to PHX via LA 23 hours
