1 year later, the TSX is truely a success

IMO, there are 3 major areas a car needs to excel in to truely be called as success. The TSX has achieved all 3.

Here is why we can now call the TSX a big success ...

- The media loves it. Lots of attention and glowing reviews for the TSX. A star performer by all accounts.

- Selling well. Been over a year now and the TSX has shattered all sales expectections. What was first thought to be a niche play is now outselling the RSX.

- No chronic problems. Yes I know you some of you will say rattles, but really...its a minor annoyance that in most cases can be dealt with. Overall its safe to say that the TSX is a reliable car with no major problems. For a first year car, it was built right.

Its sales are on the upswing so things may only get better.

This sucess also bodes well for alternate variants of the TSX. More power, options, etc.

Well, I don't understand why the sales goal was so low. Alone (without the TL) It should sell better than Audi A4 or BMW 3-series. A bit too expensive for a 4 cyl, I guess.

I honestly think Honda purposely aimed low when they announced an expectation of 15K units a year. This way if it was a sales disaster they would'nt have looked so bad. But in the back of their mind they must have known it would sell at least 20K a year. I'm sure their not the only companmy to do that either.

I'm seeing 2 or 3 a day now. Still not sure if the TSX is a sucess in Canada though???

Yeah...aim low...so when you surpass the mark, you can gloat all about it
Don't surpass mark..oh well..low number won't hurt as much.

Hmm..I think it is, but unlike the US we have more than enough cars to fill the demand. Remember at 4000 cars, our car per capita is higher than south of the border.

So how many TSX's have been sold in Canada? Dom do you know?

What's intersting is I think the TSX is just a sliver of where they expect to take this platform. Have to think we are in for a bright future with the TSX lineup in '06 and '08

<----------- Gimmie some IMA TSX

I love my TSX but I don't think I'll buy another first year car. I've had rattles, sliding seat rails, and as of this weekend the center console lights are out. If they fix everything under warranty then I don't have anything to complain about. It's still huge bang for the buck and I love the way it drives its just that it's had more problems than I was expecting from Honda.

I have no clue and have no idea how to find out. Desrosiers only shows monthly sales on a company basis.

I do recall someone at Acura 2000 telling me that they sold a record 35X TL's in the month they were released. Lets say they average 325 per month that equals 3,900 TL's a year? So I'm not sure how they could sell 4000 TSX's???

Thats was I figured but if 35X was a record month than those numbers make sense??

I guess they may sell more TSX's in Canada because of the lower cost.

I'm just waiting for my damn light to go out too.

Kinda pisses me off when these problems happen. I gloat to family mmebers and friends about how reliable Honda's are so then I have to keep my mouth shut when something breaks.

Agree exterior styling is bland ... it was even when it came out. The interior still looks good IMHO.

Have you see how much an '03 CLS 6MT is going for? Bad resale makes it quite a steal ... that is the ONLY reason I looked for it (other than it having an awesome engine).

Anyway ... not enough for me ... I am going to hold out for 3-4 years and give Acura some time to brew up some new models

Same here domn. I don't have a problem believing they could do 4000 or more on a national scale.
