If you want the torque, TL. If you want sharp handling, TSX.

At your age, you'll find the TSX more fun. TL is too much power for a 17 year old.

how about 06 tsx? Theres no major changes btwn 06 and 07, and you'll get an even better deal.

If that's the case, I would maybe wait a little while for a 6 speed or get the TL. I can almost guarantee you'll regret not getting the tsx in a manual.

Why? I don't regret getting an AT and haven't since I bought it (it's an '04).

You shouldn't make assumptions when the original poster hasn't indicated that makes a difference - though I guess I can understand why you did it (e.g., age and comparing to the TL).

I agree.....17 years old and you get to choose between a TL or a TSX sheesh! When i first started driving i was given a 1989 Z24 Cavalier and was more than happy but nice, more power to you i guess!

^^Based on that comment alone, I got the vibe that he doesn't sound too thrilled that the remaining ones are auto. I could be wrong in assuming and I've been wrong before

Word... My first car at 16 was a hand-me-down 1984 Peugeot 505 with 180,000 miles. I drove it until I was in my early 20s and 271,000 miles before finally graduating to something else.

nestquick, when I was 17 I definitely would've preferred the TSX even if it is an automatic. Sure, you won't get maximum acceleration or the joy of rowing through the gears, but you'll get the fun chassis and great sounding engine. Your tastes may be completely different than mine, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have enjoyed a TL as much.

I will agree again with that as well! The only reason i would go with the TL is if i was somehow only set on power. If you get the TSX, and even without doing engine work to it, just get some wider wheels, throw on the sway bar and some coilovers, and your car will be an awesome handling car! Even the AT, which i have, is enough for me 95% of the time...lol But realistically, when you are on the highway and need to change lanes or move around some one, it has plenty of power to do so and to do it quickly with the suspension mods!

Im 17 and I actually think if I had to get a new acura I woudl get the TSX over the TL. I love both cars but there are a few reasons to me as a 17 year old makes the TSX more appealing

1) Its cheaper to begin with in the first, which also im assuming makes insurance cheaper
2) Gas. I hate paying for gas and the TSX will get better mileage.
3) Smaller, I like smaller cars more then larger cars. (easier to park, switch lanes, ect.
4) Less common where I live theres a 3G TL everywhere the TSX is more rare.

Now I also think the TL is a great car and diffenently would not be a bad option at all if your going for a new acura. I myself couldnt afford any new acura (not even an RSX) so I bought a used 2000 TL and I do love it. However, if I was going to go new I think I would have gone TSX.

This coming from a 18 year old? The TL is a lot of things, too powerful is not one of them IMO.

Nice!! Mine was in GREAT shape, and i mean it was really nice for an 1989 and i wish i had room to keep it somewhere. Those 2.8L and 3.1L engines actually were really good and ran well. I had 130k on mine and she was still going strong without a lot of problems. I would get one again too! My Dad wanted to restore it since it was getting close to the 25 year mark but again, storage!

Trackruner228 - Nice points and way to make a wise choice in buying a car!

Pretty much the only reasons to get the TL over the TSX is that it has more power. I haven't been able to drive an '06 TL aggressively so I don't know how it compares to an '02 TL-S powerwise, but I do know that my dream car would be to have the second gen type-S engine in my TSX. I do think that the sound system in the TSX sounds better than the '06 TL.

TL is nice, lots of power, but it's a boat! Personally I believe the TSX is much a much quicker car around town, and hands down more fun to drive. This really depends on where you live I guess.

TL all day! If the price points are close and you can go one way or the other without too much sweat, get the TL. The TL is a very hot car and it has a lot more pull. Not to mention there is a bit more status with the TL.

You're going to ask...."how is a TSX driver saying all this?"...I'm 6'5" and I didn't have a noticeable difference in headroom in the TL. Gas mileage was a big concern and I couldn't find a TL with really low miles that was close in price. I wasn't willing to buy a TL with 30,000 miles for the same price as my 5,000 mile TSX. Time left under warranty was big too.

But sheeit, if none of that matters to you....once again GET THE TL!!! If I was 17, I would be behind the wheel of that TL already.

Bigger again, doesn't necessarily mean safer. When i got hit a month ago, a 50 mph hit in the rear and spun me 100 degrees, the side impact air bags were timed perfectly and i walked away perfect. The impact ratings on the TSX are one of the best in its class if not the best, and the TSX is #1 highest resale valued car right now too. The TSX is a great tight little compact sport/entry luxury sedan that i think is a great car!

True Dat! The TL doesn't have too much power or torque but the TL-S is a different monster.

They probably think since it's bigger, it's safer.
