I'd say I perfect size is 225-55-17.
245 will rub.

^ That's way too big.

225/55-16 would be more like it.

~Cheers~

The perfect size wheel for our cars is 17".

16"- 215/50/16
17"- 215/40-45/17
18" -215/35-40/18

im thinking about getting 225/40/18 because i have 215/35/18 now and already popped 2 tires. So does anyone know if 225/40/18 will rub? and also whats the widest rims we can fit on our cars without rubing

I think you will rub.

Mandy is running a 225 or 235/45/17 tire on his 1G with 3G wheels and he rubbed in the rear. He had to roll his fenders and then everything was fine.

I had 235/45/17's on and they didn't rub. Granted they were too wide, but I had no problem with functionality of the car....and they cost $10/each :P

I just picked up a set of 5 CL-S rims (1 will be my spare) yesterday for my 1G 3.2TL. The rims are 17 x 7 (vs. the TL-S 17 x 6.5's). The rims came with 4 brand new tires that are 215/50/17.

Now based on what I've read in this thread, the sidewalls sound a little bit taller than a "perfect fit" (215/40-45/17). Do you think that I will have a problem with rubbing when passengers are in the car?

I had 225/40/18s on 18x8 and they rubbed alot whenever i went ova potholes or any sudden drop in street levels. Other than that, they were fine. I suspect my rear struts were bad though.
