won't start and rpms jump when trying to start.
Hello. This is my first post on forums let me know if I did something wrong thanks.
98 acura tl 2.5 Today I was driving home from work and heard a grinding noise and my rpms jumped a little bit then drove another 30 feet then the grinding noise started again and immediately died. When I try to start my car it cranks and the rpms jump between 4 and 5 and the car won't start. The cranking noise does not sound right either. I was wondering if anyone knew what the problem was and how to fix it. Thanks.

The starter could have randomly engaged while the engine was running. I remember when my starter was acting up, often times when I try to start the car early in the morning, my rpm jump up and down whenever it engaged/disengaged and it sounded real nasty.
