Window Smashed!! Alarm probs
Window Smashed!! Alarm probs
My driver's side front window got smashed out of my 1998 2.5 TL. Ever since, the alarm randomly goes off for no reason. I just want to either disconnect it or pull the fuse, but I can't even find which fuse it is connected to on the panel cover. Please help. Disconnection would be best.
Disconnect the horn portion of the alarm under the power steering fluid resevoir and ziptie the plug out of the way, you will have no alarm but the keyless entry still works. Same problem still trying to work out the bugs. Lemme know
Alright forget that, when I wrote this post I thought i had it figured out, but the hood was up and the hood switch wasn't making contact so the alarm would not arm as a result of that. I also learned that that the alarm utilizes both horn circuits, so by disconnecting the one under the hood it will still use the one in front of the radiator. So I conducted further troubleshooting and found that when I close my driver side door the security light on the door immediately starts flashing even without arming the system. This is abnormal. I opened and closed the door a couple of times and the light went out. I have a feeling that the switch in the door telling the alrm that the door is closed is sticking, I will check in a few days when I have the time and try to find out what the deal is. All switches have to be "made" in order for the alarm to properly work, this includes all 4 door switches and the hood and trunk switch. Also the door light switches mounted to the car itself. I have no idea at this time if the switches need to appear open or closed to the alrm system in order for it to operate properly. So meanwhile, while I investigate the problem further take the step I did and see if the Security Light flashes even while the alarm is deactivated and post your findings. It could very well be a battery starting to go bad as mentioned in other threads or a bad switch so lemme know. sorry for jumpin the gun on the first post. My Bad.
