Transmission codes
Hello Everyone, I'm new to this site but old to the honda/acura game... I just bought a 96 acura tl 2.5 and I am going through it to fix the minor problems. First the trans shifts hard going into second, but I read the thread about changing the screen in the trans and I will be doing that tomorrow. Now today I replaced the D4 light bulb in the dash and now it flashes after a second of run time... How do I check the codes for that. And one more question would the VSS cause the odometer to not work cause the speedo works but not the odometer.. Sorry for all the questions at once and if this is not in the right area of the forum... Thanks in advance..

I'm not sure how you would retrieve the code(s) from the flashing D4 light, but to answer your other question the odometer should work as long as the speedometer work. I once had that problem and fixed it by taking the cluster out and giving it some knocks. Seems like a common problem on our cars.

Well I had the car scanned at Autoshitzone and it came back with P0118 Engine coolant high input, P0135 O2 sensor Bank 1 sensor 1, P0141 O2 sensor Bank 1 sensor 2, P0700 Transmission control malfunction, P1792 Transmission issue... So I called my local acura dealership and they told me that the coolant sensor would cause the transmission codes to appear and the d4 light to flash... So I just changed the coolant sensor and now it shifts smooth as a babies butt. and runs ten times better.... now to replace O2 sensor but for now I am smiling from ear to ear...

Oh and I forgot to add I took the dash completely out tore it all the way down to nothing. beat the odometer with a screwdriver a few times even wiggled the numbers around and still no movement. I guess I will go to the scrap yard and pull a dash and try that...

Yesterday afternoon I was driving home from school and bammmm.. the car kicked (It did this when I pulled out of the parking lot also), CEL went on and the car died on the highway when it was traffic. I turned the key off, shifted it to park and started it back up. It started and ran again like nothing had happened.
Later last night, I took it out to an ATM and it happened again, I was pissed so I shifted back to park when it was still running and I heard quite a bit of cracking noise I hit the brake and the car stopped. D4 light flashed. I turned off the engine, then started it again. It ran normally.
Today, I stopped by Autozone to get some code and I got this P0730(Transmission Wrong Gear Ratio), P0758(Shift Solenoid), P0700(Transmission Control System), P1660(ATCHK Line Malfunction/AT-Engine Control Unit Halt).
Can anyone give me some suggestion on how to deal with this please?

Ok, hopefully it doesn't come back like my starter problem. Reman starters suck balls; I have to tap on it to get the car started unless it is super hot outside. No wonder why they are labeled as the "devil" of starters.
