Tranny/Differ

Am about to do a tranny flush and i went to honda beacuse there isnt an ACURA dealer around here only in ventura which is like a 2hr drive.. They told me that the tranny feeds the differ so my quetion is... Is that true..?? beacuse ive seen ppl here do tranny fluid and also put gear oil in there differ.. Soo is the tranny feeding the differ or is the tranny seaprate from the differ and does each one uses its own fluid and oil.. I want to get all my info right berfore i start buying fluids and parts... Thanxx

Its seperate. The trans takes atf, and the diff takes gear oil. What a great service department, lol.

Yes, what a service department!
Here is a good write-up on replacing the gear oil for your 2.5

Yeah thoes were some good DIY lol..

Gear oil it said 80w90 or 75w90 so which one would i use and how many qaurts beacuse i didnt see them write that lol

Tranny it looks it doesnt use a filter like the 3.2... soo that would mean the 2.5 only has a screen..?? and can this screen be cleaned or does it have to be replaced.? and as for the ATF i have a feeling its not going to use 4 quarts. beacuse that DIY was just a drain and not a flush and am going to do a flush..

drain tranny fluid, drop the pan, replace the filter. replace with new fluid. takes around 4 quarts.

diff takes like 1.1 liters I think. 80w-90 or 75w-90 is fine.

don't forget to get new crush washers for tranny drain bolt, and diff drain and fill bolt. drain bolts are all the same size washer (M13, M14 is also fine), diff fill plug is different.

why not a flush..??? beacuse if you just drain it the old fluid is still in the bellhouseing tho.. so that would be mixing new fluid with old fluid right..?

i would flush after about 3-4 drain and fills, but since tranny fluid is changed about 60k miles, i would offset and drain and fill then flush and fill . but thats just me

Not exactly. Because of the age of our transmissions, we are better off drain and fill several tmes to get new fluids in. Flushing an old tranny will cause problems down the road. Debris tend to dislodge and float around causing problems later on.

I just drained and filled my 2.5 tl. It takes 2.5 quarts to refill it once you take out the plug. I did the drain and fill about 4 times and its completely clean. I would rather do that than a flush if its got higher mileage. I did mine at 157K.

dont flush your tranny unless you want problems down the road.
