Stuck rear caliper, how hard to replace?

I want to tackle this job tomorrow. Any input would be appreciated.

What tools do I need?

I was going to buy an Autozone caliper, will this suffice?

I have taken brakes apart before but the fronts on this TL are STUPID! are the back the same?

Thanks in advance!

IMO it is easy.

I replaced my front caliper and I got one from Autozone. It is doing its job.

Just remember to bleed the brakes after you are done putting the caliper back on.

I believe a 12mm or 9/16 socket is needed. I can't remember what it was. I think it was one of those two though.

Good to hear, thanks man. Does the hub have to come off to remove the caliper?
Guess I should pick up some fluid too.

no, the hub does not have to come off. you just unbolt the caliper from the bracket and unbolt the brake line. Be sure to use a new washers for the brake line.

The washers come in the package that you get from Autozone.

I only bled the front brakes when I did mine and everything was and still is fine.

M10 is the size of the washers. auto part stores sometimes sell a universal fit package that contain a whole bunch of sizes.

Mine came with washers and it was only enough for each bolt.

I just need to paint it again when it gets warmer.

Dove into the job today, everything is buttoned back up. New Caliper and pads bled the 2 back brakes because I tried to do the pads on the other side to keep all even, but could NOT get the piston to compress back so I could fit the caliper over the newer, thicker pads. Gave up. The existing pads are at half life. Bled that side too.
However, upon test drive, the brakes did not feel great and the brake light came on along with the ABS light.

The peddle feels a little soft, but the brakes do grab hard if I floor the peddle. I topped off the reservoir and still the same problems.

Could my other caliper be on its way out, too?

Any ideas here? It is going into the shop tomorrow for the warped rotors with 3,000 miles that my mechanic installed.

you turned the piston instead of just compressing it right?

What do you mean by turn? The piston didn't budge so I put the old pads back in.

Our rear calipers compresses by turning motion of the piston. So you would need to turn it instead of compressing it.

I compressed them pretty hard before learning that they turned. I guess I got lucky they didn't break. cuz I clamped them pretty hard. haha go get a tool from the store for turning caliper pistons, they're pretty cheap.

The fronts can be compressed normally.

Then what do you think would of triggered my ABS light to come on? It wasn't on before I changed my caliper and now it is on.

Just got mine back from the shop that did my fronts. They were warped after 5k miles. Resurfaced them, installed the pads I couldn't get on, and bled system.

Brakes BEAUTIFULLY now.

The caliper I installed was good to go and I guess I didnt damage the other one from trying to compress it.

I think the system needed to be bled better. No lights now.
