okay radiator hose broke

i toke a drive to mass. this wednesday ..and i came back the same day, half way home my car was smokeing so i pull over at 711 to check it out.. pop the hood and there you go a mad smoke came out..check it out the radiator hose split..i cant drive home so called for tow truck ,23 mile to get home.

i got it home.. started removing everything out to replace what is needed to be replace.

i have replace the hose and the coolant with the type 2 blue.

but after the fix i forgot the thermostat.

now my temp is going up and down..what else i need to do.

thermostat is not oem..which i might have to go buy the orginal one.

when i drive i put on the heater the temp rasie a little and then when i turn it off it goes back normal.

Make sure you bleed the coolant. Sounds like there was air in the system that the heater was letting move around.

Could be. Pop off the cover and make sure the yellow thing is tightened. If that doesn't do it, maybe there's a vacuum leak, so check your lines. Sometimes, you can hear it hissing.

go90 already mentioned this, but it is very important you completely bleed the system... it usually takes me about 30 mins to do properly and with the front of the car jacked up to help the air bubbles work their way to the top of the radiator... you will get very noticable rpms jumping if the IACV isn't submerged in coolant... may have air pockets...
