Oil smells like gas

What could be causing this? It makes my oil need changing often.

The car is running great if anything maybe just a little down on power, I want to do a type II intake manifold. When I change the oil it seems like it has more power.

Down on power and gas in oil. Do a cylinder leak down test, static and running compression test on all cylinders. Sounds like worn piston rings. No?

I use only premium, it might be a good idea to do a compression test, worn rings could be the problem. What is a leak down test?

Leak down test is for checking if you are losing any compression to the crankcase. It is performed with piston at top dead center in compression stroke, with engine off and fully warmed up temp. In your case you smelled gas in oil and that might be a good place to look for.

In my experience, a slight gasoline smell is normal for a car driven in city driving and 3000-5000 miles on oil. Car does not get hot enough to completely evaporate gasoline from oil. I've seen this on Acura, Honda, and Subaru.

Have an oil analysis done to see if it's excessive; Blackstone, et al.

If fuel consumption is normal, I doubt you have any problems.

good luck

^Yes. And also check the PCV system, plugged PCV system can cause that. Another test is start the car and then turn it off. After 5 minutes pull the engine dip stick out and get an HC reading from the dip stick hole. Up to 500 PPM is normal I think..
