help! rotor and brake pad replacement

Hi all,

I recently drove 2500 miles across the country and now every time I start ,y 96 3.2 TL and drive for 5 miles or so I hear my rear wheels start to squeak.

Also when I brake the front wheel will sometime squeak too.

I'm thinking of replacing the rotor and brake pads. A quick online search shows a wide variation on price range on rotors from 20 dollars to over 100 a piece.

Do you have any brand recommendations or should I just go with OEM parts?

I also hear that people just "turn" their rotor ? But is it better to replace them?

Thanks a bunch!

There's a magic thickness for rotors. If you're over the minimum, I'd get em turned. I don't know what the thickness should be though.

Brake Disc Thickness:
Standard: 22.9 - 23.1 mm (0.90 - 0.91 in)
Max. Refinishing Limit: 21.0 mm (0.83 in)
NOTE: Replace the brake disc if the smallest measurement
is less than the max. refinishing limit.
Brake Disc Parallelism: 0.015 mm (0.0006 in) max.
NOTE: This is the maximum allowable difference
between the thickness measurements.
If the disc is beyond the service limit for parallelism,
refinish the brake disc with an on-car brake lathe.
The Kwik-Lathe produced by Kwik-Way Manufacturing
Co. and the "Front Brake Disc Lathe" offered
by Snap-on Tools Co. are approved for this operation.

I think its best to go aftermarket they are only rotors and pads, If you save the reciept you may get lifetime warranty and all you have to do is exchange them everytime they wear down.
