Door handles

I have a 3.2 and 2 rear door handles are popped out. Still working but no springs. I have them stickied with some molding tape. Anybody know if these are easy to fix? I had 2 done by the dealer and they said they had to repace the handle something broke. Could it be just the spring? Anybody has these done by DIY?

its not the spring..
spring is steel, handle is plastic.
you can remove the plastic part and mod it so that it works with the spring.

Have you done yours? How easy was it? What kind of mod is required?

i have done my front one.
the difficult part is removing the handle out of the door. maybe the back door would be easier, check the manual.
the hardest part was removing the aluminum rod out of the handle assembly inside the door, because of lack of acces. i thought i would break the plastic, but it held up.

basically i had to drill a small hole on the handle where the plastic tab used to be and inserted the end part of the spring into that hole to get the handle into tension.
you can devise something else like insterting a screw into the hole and recreating the tab.

I will check the manual, thanks. If I ever do this, I will make a DIY. I am pretty sure there's a bunch of us out there with snapped door handles! Shame on Honda!

I just checked the manual on how to replace the handles, seems straight forward. I will try this weekend. I am fed up seeing my 2 rear handles like they are ready to fly away! Right now, they are stickied using some molding double sided tape. After it rains...they flip up again! Sucks!

Mandy, did you try replacing the door handles? I broke my rear door handle last winter. It was my first winter in Boston and one morning, the door had iced and was stuck. I tried to force the door open by pulling on the latch too hard and the latch just popped open. I suppose it is just poor design by Honda. That taught me to use warm water to defrost the door before trying to force it open.

It has been on my To-Do list for the last 8 months, but I have been putting it off. Would love to know if anyone else has tried it successfully.

I have the same problem on my drivers side door. If possible can someone post some pics of the job to make things a little more clear.
