Distributor
Replaced distributor, cap and rotor button. The distributor will not sit flush against the back of the valve cover. I have wiggled it enough and feel the gear lined up, but the distributor will not seal up to it, only bending the bolt hole ears towards the motor. I'm afraid of crackin it or breaking it (which is what happened to original) Any suggestions?

From your description, you have the distributor key upside down entering the camshaft drive slot. If key is inserted correctly, the distributor face will flush w/ the cylnder head.
It may take a bit of push to squeeze the oring into the camshaft opening, particularly if the oring is new. Lube oring.
good luck

Rotor
I pulled the distributor back off to check the key again to make sure it's lined up. I had previously lubed the new oring and it's the oring not making it all the way in. BUT in process I spun the rotor and it will not make a full rotation. It is hitting the contact points. I put the original rotor button in the new cap and it toohits the contacts of the distributor cap. Am I wrong to think it should revolve a full turn freely?

yeah 2.5 this is my second cap and the rotor spins almost completely around before it hits. if you pressure it it will spin thru it. i'm thinking maybe the manufacturer screwed up and the contacts are a hair too far out? its the right model number i double checked. you can see on the rotor button where the contacts have marked the plastic. thought of just sanding it down a bit to clear?

Are you sure the rotor aligns w/ the buttons on the rotor drive mount in the distributor. If you reverse the mounting the rotor will be cocked and hit the contacts. Guess how I know this?
