check engine light on- 98' 3.2 tl
My check enginge light has been on for about 6 mo. I was told that it was a blocked egr valve. Just wondering if using seafoam would clean the valve by dumping it into brake booster hose or pcv. Also my tl has 165k on it and I heard that using seafoam on engines above 150k might cause problems. Any help would be much appriciated, dont want to spend 3-4 hundy to have mechanic clean intake and egr. I have thought about taking off intake and egr and cleaning myself but cant find and 98 tl diagrams or pics to help with.. thanks to all who respond...

What code was present? Some codes mean defective EGR, some blocked EGR, missing vacuum, etc.
Seafoam will not clean the EGR system. There are systems for chemical cleaning but they are shop tools and too expensive for DIY.
EGR injection passages and ports into intake manifold must be cleaned. I believe I read that 3.2TL requires removal of intake manifold. A shop manual is essential for guidance. Search this site for "EGR Clean".
