Car won't start

I did a search and still not sure what my problem is. My car is a 95 tl 2.5. I thought at first for sure it was the starter. The car displayed many of the symptoms found in the starter help "Sticky". The first sign of trouble occurred one day while leaving the mall. The car would not start. It would only click once fairly loud ,then nothing. Just previous to this I had installed an aftermarket head unit and had been playing it very loud, however there is no amp, so I see no reason for there to be any issues with the charging system. Back to the no start issue. I found some one to give me a jump and at first it would not work. After cleaning the battery posts it finally took a jump and I was on my way. Ever since then not always but sometimes the car will not start on the first try but will click fairly loud but then turn over and start on the second or third turn of the key. This went on for 2-3 weeks until last night. I played the radio with the car off for a while and the battery appeared to run down. I was able to restart and play the radio some more. The second time i attempted to restart it nothing not even a click. I let the car sit and figured i'd try it in the morning. Next morning same thing. So I try to jump it. still nothing. I pulled the battery and had it tested at Autozone. Tested good. Next I pull the starter and take it to be tested. Starter tests good. So now I don't know what to look for next. The car still has a faint click when you try to start it but not the same loud clack as before. It now has a softer almost electical sounding click like a relay or something. Is this possible and if so how do I diagnose it. Sorry for the long post but just wanted to provide as much detail as possible to get the best suggestions on how to fix. Thanks

short in the electrical somewhere? may be draining the battery when the car is off... had to put a switch on the amp in my car since it was draining the battery. i know you dont have an amp but it may be something else......

Well it looks like it was the starter. After having it tested at three different stores I finally found a competent parts store that was able to determine that the starter was not performing at the specified levels although it did have some output. Put the new one in and fired right up.

For the record I only had to disconnect two vacuum lines and one bracket that supported the brake booster line (10mm socket), and the fuel line that goes to the top of the fuel rail. Tools required were a 14mm box wrench 17mm socket on a 3/8 drive using a stubby pivot head wratchet, and a pair of pliers. The horror stories about pulling axles and manifolds may not be necessary if you have a little patience and finesse. The trickiest thing was probably getting the starter back in the hole and getting the top 14mm bolt back in. I used a magnet and held the bolt from the side and guided it in. Probly had 4 hrs invested in it but if I had to do it again could definatly do it in half the time. Just happy to be done with it and thanks for the replies!
