Cannot start my Acura 2.5Tl 1997 model
Hello can anyone help me...When I start the car it does not start, the lights are on and installed a new battery and it is working fine, installed a new starter. If I jump start then it start and can start the car for 3 more times but when I try it latter it does not start. Can any one help on the issue. Thanks in advance
If the car starts with a jump, I would check the alternator and battery to make sure they are still good. Some auto part stores can give you free alternator/battery check. Sometimes new batteries can be defective. Also, I would check the cables for their condition to make sure they are tight and check if you have any electronics in the car that may be draining the battery or if you have left any lights on.
try disconnecting the negative battery terminal for a few hours and then hook it back up and it should start. This is what I had to do with mine the day before I brought it home. If the time needed to completely reset the ECU is less correct me please. Also DONT charge the battery with the car I read that that can ruin the alternator.

What does it do when you try to start the 2.5? Click? Nothing? Turns over, but doesn't start?
I know that you said that it was a new battery, check it again at Autozone with a load. Anyone could built a bad battery. They can set on the shelf a while.
If it clicks from not enough current, check your cables. If the cables are Ok, then when was the starter rebuilt?
I have found that bad grounds in the TL's from not using star washers under the ground connectors and bolts.
When was the starter rebuilt? My two Acuras both were fixed by rebuilding the starters. I have a friend rebuild them for $100 each with heavy duty parts.
Hope this helps.
I had ground wires run from the starter and alternator to the negative side of the battery. Aluminium is not the greatest conductor of electricity.
