Acura Vigor

I have a 1992 Acura Vigor that I have questions on because I just purchased the vehicle and I don't know too much on it. I haven't been able to find a forum for the Vigor anywhere. Does anyone have any ideas for me? I've got several questions that I would like to get answered from people that know first hand instead of guess work.

Thank you in advance.

Ask away, the 2.5 TL has virtually the same motor

Ok. This may be a Vigor only question though, but I do appreciate the help. I bought this car from a close friend of the family that has been a mechanic for as long as I can remember. He no longer has his business as a mechanic because he now teaches auto mechanics at the high school, but he still fools with cars on the side at his home. Well, his wife told him to clean up around the house or she would clean up for him. So, this long into brings us to where we are now.

He had this 92 Vigor that had broken a timing belt. He said that he checked it all out and he says all it needs is a head to fix it. He's got his name on a list at the local Pull-a-Part for a head when they get one in. So, in the mean time...I've got the car in my garage. My question is, has anyone done a motor swap on the Vigor? Can a 3.2 or an Integra engine be placed under the hood instead of the 2.5? I'm cautious of this because of how the 2.5 sits in there sideways. I've got a connection with an Integra D16A1 twin cam motor that has been rebuilt and tweaked on a little complete with computer, wiring harness, and transmission for a pretty cheap price. I have also found several 3.2 for sale as well. Just kicking around some ideas if anyone knows anything about it.

I appreciate the help in advance.

A 3.2 Legend or 1st gen TL motor MIGHT fit, you'd need the subframe and possibly have to chop/weld some stuff in there.

Integra motor would be a lot more work, you'd need custom axles at the very least.

the 3.2 would take so much work i dont see it being worth it, save goes for any 4 banger. whats wrong with the 5 cylinder? its a good engine and look on ebay i saw a head on there recently rebuilt for $400

I don't see anything wrong with the 2.5L, I was just trying to weigh out all the options. I was thinking that there are more aftermarket parts for the 3.2 and the 4 cylinders as well. I figured that the car may be too heavy for the 4 banger, but I wasn't sure how the 3.2 would mate up to it.

Thank you all for your responses. I really do appreciate it. I bought this car as a daily driver and you all would cuss me if you saw the car and knew how much I gave for it. All my friends and family are pretty envious of me right now. I just tell them...be envious when I get it running!

Thanks again.

They're definitely nice cars . My parents just bought a Mazda 3 that's got nothing on my TL.

Good luck on the rebuild.

if you want a real nice car just keep the 2.5 , you can modify it just costs some $$. since you already have a vigor you can throw the 5spd in no problem also.

It is an automatic. I wish it was the stick, but I can't be too picky with this deal.

Ok, I'm keeping the 2.5L. I was just trying to feel out to see if anyone had done an engine swap before. Now I think I know why! HA! Now, I just need to find a good cheap head. I may resort to buying one of these good expensive remans that I've found, but I was kind of hoping to find a good used one.

Thanks for all the advice guys.

look around for a head, you could also do i rebuild. by rebuilding you could modify and do what you want.

I wonder how entailed the rebuild would be on the head that I've got? Is there any information on it? What kind of things could I do to tweak it out a little? I'm planning on tackling this myself with the help of a mechanic friend.

Now you've got my interest if I can do a little tweaking.

ive done alot of looking with vigors, you can boost it if you got some money and the desire. are u sure the motor is totally fucked? you might be able to rebuild, maybe replace the valves more if you want.

you have to search a bit, but you can find parts to rebuild that motor

No, the engine is not totally screwed. It just needs a head and a timing belt. The pistons are good in it, luckily. That's why I'm just looking for a head so I can get it on the road.

Well, the cam is sheared for one and some valves are messed up due to the timing belt breaking.
