I got the Check Engine light, Autozone read it for me showing front O2 sensor is bad. Here's my questions:
Is the '98 eligible for the extended emmisions warranty? I just turned over 100K miles but I'm thinking that the warranty is only for the '97s and older.
Has anybody replaced this themselves? I took out my battery and the heat shields around it and I still can't see how you'd get a wrench on the little sucker.
Has anybody paid for this service? How much $$$?
Since this lit up, I have had a few times where the car really did not want to fire when starting - and then it ran like crap until it warmed up. I need to get this fixed.
Thanks!

What code was set? Sometimes the O2 sensor is not the problem, but rather just a symptom of other problems.
I haven't removed that sensor. Is there room for a O2 sensor socket to access. O2 sensors can be very difficult to break loose. Sometimes it will help to start the engine and allow to warm for 1-2 minutes before attempting to break the sensor loose.
good luck

The code reader displayed the code number and then displayed the details, showing the only code indicated the front O2 sensor. He cleared the code and then it came right back - so I'm pretty sure the sensor is bad. Since it is the sensor in front of the CAT, it makes sense to me that it would cause fuel mixture problems.
The starting problem is intermittent - mostly it fires up instantly and runs fine. I'll take it to my local independent Honda mechanic and see what he says about labor to replace the unit.
