my 96 2.5 tl (auto) seems to shift late, and shift down late as well...

if i step on the gas a bit it jumps hard and when i let go it heaves forward.

any ideas?

 

I am having the same problem when the car shifts from 2nd to 3rd. I am driving a 98 2.5 TL.

 

There has been some success w/ draining the AT fluid, removing the oil pan, and replacing the hydraulic pump inlet screen. A blocked screen reduces pump pressure resulting in bad shifts. There are some good posts on the procedure.

One tip, really pay careful attention to the bolt lengths. There are different bolt lengths to hold the inlet screen in place.

The 2.5TL Acura shop manual provides a good description of the maintenance procedure.
