1996 tl 2.5 front brake rotors

Car sat for about 8 months. When we finally got the car back on the road, the brake rotors had a ton of rust and the pedal pulsated every time we braked. I figured the rotors went bad. They were running a little thin, so I thought it would be a good idea to replace them. I assumed these would be a simple swap like every other car I have ever worked on. Wrong! The rotors are installed behind the front hub. First thing I need to know is the size of the nut that holds on the front axle. My socket set only goes to 32mm and it is too small. Large sockets are expensive, so I don't want to buy more than I really need. Once the nut is off, I know that I can remove the hub by taking off 4 bolts from the rear. Does the hub just slide off the axle shaft? Once off, can I just remove the bolts holding the rotor to the hub? Any other tips on doing this job? TIA.

the axle nut should be a 36mm, but maybe someone with a 2.5 can tell you.

that should give you an idea of what you have to do...

Axle nut was 36mm on my daughter's Acura 2.2 CL.

I found a nice DIY procedure for Honda Accord rotor replacement. If you PM me w/ your email address, I'll email the pdf file to you. I haven't used it but it looks like the trick for these rotors. It's still a job, but no special tools are required, just some long bolts you can pick up at auto parts anywhere.

good luck
