Hey everyone. I just bought a 98 2.5 TL and I'm trying to look for performance upgrades. ( Intake, air filter, exhaust, etc.) do you guys know of any good Websites for performance parts for 1st gen TL's. Thanks for the help.

no performance parts. however there is a drop in air intake by K&N. if you want an air intake then it has to be custom made just like headers and exhausts and such. you can get an aftermarket muffler..?

if you wanted upgrades u shouldve went for a civic, you can do some upgrades but they will cost you (5speed manual vigor swap, custom turbo, etc) theres a cold air (or is it ram) intake you can order from weapon r but even that isnt too cheap. good luck

<~~~ 1998 Acura 2.5 TL owner too... The only upgrades that i know of are:

1. Weapon-R (SRI) you can also get the extension for the (CAI) that will put the filter down into the air dam...

2. Lower with Coilover/Lowering Springs...
3. Visual upgrades... or downgrades but looks better... Go to JDM... and also some new wheels...

Thats about it... naba has a point... a Honda Accord/Civic has more aftermarket parts then our cars... so if you wanted to mod a car... you chose the wrong one... if you want style and luxury while keeping it sporty but not ricey... then you got the right car...

A civic and an accord might have more mods... but my car will outlast any ricer out there... (My TL is almost to 200,000... just 6 to 12 months more... )

Almost forgot... TLxRaCeR's body kit... i have to get it... anyways... its another upgrade for out TL's... you can say... HE DID custom fabricate a body kit for us... http://inspiredmotorsports.com/

Yeah, there isn't a huge amount of aftermarket support for these cars, which is good and bad at the same time.

You can get an air intake, throttle rotor, fuel pressure regulator, exhaust, different air filter, some better tires, but that is really about it for performance if you want something that will directly match up.

Only having those few options though, makes people do some pretty creative things. Usually they aren't performance, but rather cosmetic or comfort.

Since you just got the car, the best thing you can do for performance right now is to do all of the maintnance stuff, plugs/wires/fluids. Also, check and see if your car qualifies for the extended emissions thing, you could get a new exhaust manifold, spark plugs, wires, and oil change all for free.

nope... doesn't... don't get his hopes up like mine were... 1995 - 1997 TL's only... 98's aren't in that picture...

But Plugs... wires etc... good thing to do...

Ah I didn't know that the 98's didn't fall into that category. Sorry about that.

What do you really want to do with the car, and how much money do you have to spend?

call Jordon Acura and tell them to look up your car via your VIN. then tell them that you want to have the extended emissions warranty looked up. if it hasn't been done on your car yet...schedule an appointment for the FREE work and parts. simple is as simple does.....mostly.

Well, i don't have much right now actually, after dropping the down payment on it and putting all my Audio stuff in. Maybe later on, i would like to put rims and tires on it. but as far as making a 'tuner car', or something of the sort, prolly wouldn't want to. I mean, I think of acura TLs as a luxury car. i mean if i had a civic or accord i'd be all for getting a lot of mods. but if ya'll have any suggestions about my TL, drop a line or something. yeah, i have only about 600 dollars right now, so i'm just gonna start with the small stuff.

this isn't performance, but the clear turning signals are a big hit that's not too expensive on ebay ($40'ish). performance will run you some more money tho :/
