96 2.5 painted headlights?
If it were that easy, everyone would have black housing headlights.
You have to take off the bumper cover and the reinforcement to get the headlight out. Then you have to bake the headlight to remove the cover, take the frame out, spray, put it back, then warm up the headlight to put the cover back on. Afterwards, add some sealant to ensure that water doesn't get in.

For the baking you have to set them in the oven for 20 minutes at 200. You do not preheat the oven before you put them in. You just put them in.
Then when it comes out hot, take a flat head screwdriver, take it where the clips are and pry it open. You have to apply a good amount of pressure to get them open though.
Then you have the headlight open.
REMEMBER TO WEAR LATEX GLOVES SO YOU DON'T GET YOUR FINGERPRINTS ALL OVER THE INSIDE OF THE HEADLIGHT!!!!!!!!!

I followed this method when my friend and I did his lights on his Mazda and they came out great.

yep..our TLs are a pain...in my old volvo there were 5 clips.
It took me like two days to take mine off; i was to scared to stick my headlights in the oven so i sticked a thin screwdriver in between the lens/headlight and took out most of the rubber epoxy and eventually pried them open
