Window Retinting due to frameless windows
Window Retinting due to frameless windows
oh one thing ive been wanting to ask u guys one question how many times have u have ur tint's re done because we dont have frames around the window......
I've had my tints on for 4 1/2 years with no problems. The best thing about frameless windows is that it is so easy to put the tint on. But since I had mine done at Ziebart, it has a lifetime warranty anyway.

mine has scratches on it due to some sh*t within the door jams that scratches it up. it also has this oil haze that wont go away but im sure this is normal to us 1st gens......right?!?!? or am i the only one here?
another thing i hate about frameless windows is that if you roll down your window half way and close the door, it makes the window really loose or something. so now whenever i roll it down half way and go over bumps/reflectors in the streets while changing lanes, it makes this scary noise within the door jam and window. sounds like my window is loose or something. SCARY!

I was doing some surfing and if your going to redo your windows this link gives some very cool options http://www.gilafilms.com/auto/appearance.html
A tinter told me to use clear nail polish around the whole edge if I was having a problem.

Tinters in Illinois should have a lifetime warranty anyway. My windows were perfect until I came to CA. All of the heat and sun have distroyed my tint and no one out here does a lifetime warranty.

Well, in IL, you can tint any of your windows except for the front Driver's side, and Front Passenger side. If you put tint on the front windshield, it cannot be wider than 6". Trust me on this one, I have tint all over my car and have been pulled over almost 30 times for it already. The best thing to do is take a picture of your car before you have the tinting done and bring it to court to show the judge. This has gotten me off of almost every ticket!!

thanks for the link to states tinting laws, I couldnt find a shop that would do my front windows less than 35 in TX, now I will just go with my wife to see her family in Oklahoma where I can get 25, she keeps asking me, why do you want me to go see my family, of course I told her because I know she must be a little homesick, when all I want is some tint on my ride Muhahahahahahahahh

I lived in the Northern suburbs for 26 years. I had limo tint all the way around and 6" on the windshield. After my 3 ticket, I removed the driver's/passenger tint...stay away from Glenview (where I got all of my tickets). One summer I was driving through Glenview with my windows down, cop recognized me from court that morning and had me roll my windows up so he could check them (hense ticket #3 and almost contempt of court). Ticket were only $50 back in 1988.
YNOTxTONY,
That's funny that you said to stay away from Glenview. I have a buddy that lives in Glenview and has a Black 2001 Audi S4 with limo tint all around. He got pulled over once, and used my picture trick in court. He got off. Then he got pulled over again by the same cop about 6 months later. Instead of issuing him another ticket, he sat there and made him remove the tint with a razor blade. It took over an hour!!!

I heard about that before
Probably the same Nazi who got me. There is cop in Glenview who writes more tint tickets than speeding tickets.
That's illegal. He can't do that. He can issue a ticket, but he can't remove or make you remove your tint. They like to scare people into doing that. I know a lot of cops. Most are pretty cool, but the last thing they want to do is come up on a car with tinted windows. My problem with the Illinois law is that it is only for cars '82 or newer. If it's going to be one car...it should be all cars.
