found this vac line just hagin out in the bay open on one end, kinda wondered where to hook it up to. it runs to the underside where i cant see, and i dont see another open end near it



and is this my egr?

 

Should be the transmission breather tube, and yes, that's the EGR.

ok trans breather. so should be left open or does it need to run somewhere? how hard is it to replace the egr? doesnt look hard at all to me, but i was reading the intake has to come off? also ive got an abs light on so is it ok if i just pull the fuse? and if yes then do i pull the two or 3 little one and the big one or will just the big one be ok?

EGR shouldn't have to be replaced. The pipe that leads to the manifold and the chamber inside the manifold is what gets clogged up with carbon deposits, and that's what needs to be cleaned. Doesn't hurt to take the top half off to shoot some brake parts cleaner into the hole, though.

awesome, so that is what i was reading about that needs to have the intake off to be reached and cleaned properly?? cause i do have a CEL for the EGR.

 

Best thing is to get it to a shop. They will have to tear down the EGR plenum and clean it.

 

If you've got the time, then yes, take the manifold off and apart to really clean it out. You can do it by hand like I did for my Type II, but you'll need patience, and a LOT of brake parts cleaner. You'll have to scrape/pry out the carbon. That stuff is so black, too, that it's even difficult to photograph, haha. I'll look for the thread for you.

If a shop does it, be prepared to pay them a lot of money to have them hot-tank it, but it will come out as new.

That's a Type II manifold from a Legend that apparently only had 90K miles. My 236K mile manifold wasn't nearly as dirty, so I can only wonder what that guy did to his car.
