Cornflake did the whole swap, and I think Ken1997TL has a type II head.

Type II

wonder if the type 3 would fit into the 3.2???

To bad that won't fit my 2.5... to much cash to put down for me anyways...

Haha I wish... I guess the 3.5 RL motor would be the closest thing to a type III...

The '96 - '04 RL has a very tame engine head, its the block we want

The best combination is a 3.5 block with Type II engine heads.. its a beast

A guy in the legend forums did the exact thing Ken is talking about.

With an automatic transmission, he said he was easily able to chirp his tires by downshifting (WOT) from third to second while moving at around 35 mph. Later he said he would install a manual transmission, but I haven't read the forum since then. There might be dyno figures I'm not aware of.

At the time, he estimated that he was making 240 lb/ft (or something thereabouts) at the wheels because the 3.5 was a torque beast.

Not sure what kind of prices you're looking at. Anywhere from a few hundred to 1200 US dollars.

As for the the C35 block, DV8 on the Acura Legend forums did the swap. He later added a 6 speed manual transmission and gets 13 second quarter miles

I have a Type II engine swap, removed the intake resonator, removed the exhaust resonator and did a thorough cleaning of the throttle body.

I have the complete type II swap. I haven't as yet changed the ECU so I am not seeing the same performance gains that Ken is. I HOPE to get it done soon, just have been soo busy over the summer! My heads, intake and exhaust manifolds are mildly ported as well. I am hoping to get around 240 HP at the motor once the ECU is swapped.

Yeah, 240 is very possible with the porting. With a performance friendly exhaust you'll see some nice gains as well.

240 to the crank is doable. The Highest WHP froma mildly modded stock Type II was 211 WHP and 209 WTQ. This was a GS 6-spd.

sorry to bring back an old thread... but i have been calling around to find a type II head and intake mani...

cornflake, are u still running on the original ECU??? i mean is it really hurting the gains of the swap that much???

ken, if the ECU is changed from OBDII->OBDI, how will state inspection work??? freaking TX is strict as hell

They will expect an OBD-2 unfortunately. My guess is it wont pass emissions.

thanks ken.. after more reading of old posts about ur swap... i decided to scrap the idea.. i don't have the time or money... so i will just do a type ii intake mani swap... i should see sufficient gains with that mod.. just can't find one for the life of me... can u possibly point me in a direction to get a hold of one???

They ARE hard to find. Your best bet would to hang around the Legend forums.

And yes, the manifold and throttle body would give you some gains.. so go for those to keep it legal

Yes I am still running the OBDII ECU, and YES iut is KILLING the performance and FUEL economy of the car. Have been soo busy with work, have had NO time for the ECU changeover. I HAVE the ECU,. just trying still to locate the connectors to eliminate the need for cutting and splicing. Picked up a bunch of electronics goodies and working to finish that end of the car off before I finish the ecu swap, plus winter is somcing so stock rims and tires gotta go back. I still have to roll the fenders and get the springs on even still. Haven't even had time to hang aroundd the forum much lately!!! Hope to change that soon tho.
