Turbo setup question

When installing a turbo, is it neccessary to tweak the fuel management?
Or is okay to just do turbo without fuel management?
If done this way, can I still get the max HP out of it ?
Any side effects or con of having more air and less fuel?

If you run the stock fuel management on a turbo set-up, say good-bye to your engine.

If you're serious about turbo charging your engine, read the book Maximum Boost by Corky Bell. THe fuel management section is actually slightly out-dated, but it will give you a good idea of what needs to be done.

I would advise asking about the setup in the Legend forums.. some people have tried this with variable degrees of success.

Your best bet as far as fuel management would be something like megasquirt or any aftermarket fuel controller that can drive larger injectors and retard ignition timing per lb of boost. Another option would be an FMU/Rising rate fuel pressure regulator, but I wouldn't use one if you were going to boost more than about 5-6 lbs. Like mclarenf3387 said, Maximum Boost is a must read if you're undertaking this kind of project. I've read it cover to cover at least 3 times and refer back to certain chapters frequently.

Goto www.homemadeturbo.com and READ the sticky's and FAQ in the Engine Management and Forced Induction forums. Do not post until you know what you're talking about though. They're pretty brutal to n00bs. A question like this would get you some major flamage. All you info you need is there if you look for it.

Are you intent on doing it yourself, or would you have a shop do it? There are some locally that would I'm pretty sure, check out FYCRacing.
