Transmission Flush
How much would it cost to have done at the dealer?
How 'bout an independent shop?
Is the dealer's service worth the difference in price?

Honda doesn't recommend that their transmissions be flushed. They recommend a drain and fill every 30,000 miles which does keep it nice and clean as long as you don't floor it all the time.

That's a rip off. At the Grease Monkey I work at it only costs $50 for a drain and fill. Maybe they meant a flush. It shouldn't cost that much to undo a drain plug and tip some bottles. The actual fluid should be the majority of the cost.

Tranny Flush
I dont know how it is there, but in japan,no one(shops) completely drain the tranny fluid.Using new oil all the way actually breaks the tranny...dont know why.Unless,if you bought a new car and changed the fluid on a regular basis. If not,we only drain half, then put new half, and so on.

Damn.
I feel bad for you guys for actually paying to get it done.
Its really easy. It is just like changing the oil.
I mean, get an oil pan, put it under the drain hole, unscrew the drain bolt, let it drain completely, while waiting go make a sandwich and check on the kids, go back and screw the drain bolt back on, refill with Honda ATF, measure and refill until full, and test drive. The key here is to use only Honda ATF which you can pickup at the dealer.
Other than that, its not going to be smooth.

This is based on if you have the typical mileage for an 8-10 year vehicle (we are now into 2006 model year!) Your transmission will thank you.

I drain and fill every 12,000 miles. Good investment, keeps the Tranny fluid in the "pink!" Just like change oil. Use Honda ATF Z1. Do not use other fluids.
