stupid mpg

So, I took a drive up to Eugene, Oregon this week. It's about 75 miles away. That's about 160 round trip, including the driving in town. Plus I had 100 freeway miles on my tank already. Average of 75 mph.
23 MPG.

The next day, I did 105 miles of backroad, hilly driving between 85 and 105 mph the whole time.
Filled up again,
21.5 MPG.

Wtf.

Those don't sound too far out of line to me. Were you expecting 26-28 mpg from a 3.2V6?

Elevation change (high to low on average) and wind can make a significant difference also.

A 2.5TL will 26-28 mpg on the road w/ light driving, and maybe a 3.2TL might w/ a light touch. I get about 25 mpg "on the road" w/ my 2.5TL, w/o lockup torque converter. Any "spirited" driving will knock 20% or more off easily.

good luck

I just think there should have been more of a difference. Like 19 vs 23. Not a difference of 1.5 lol

I blame it on the 4-speed auto. Its a POS. I got 30mpg freeway with my 6-speed legend driving 80mph average with a/c, full trunk, 4 people in the car. I'm lucky to get 24mpg freeway in the tl.

Royal purple and the K&N did seem to help though.

The optimum speed for the highest return on MPG is around 65 MPH. You run higher speeds, the curve goes in the opposite direction for fuel consumption.

The C32A has enough torque to be geared down.

Drove from Roseburg Oregon to Vancouver Washington yesterday. 25 MPG at 80 with the a/c on. Pretty good in my mind. We went up there to buy a 95 Integra SE.
