Strut Tower Bar

isn't there a place where a strut tower bar can be purchased for the 2.5? i saw pics of someone that had a neuspeed one, but i've checked their site and i don't see anything on there as far as strut bars go. i'd rather not have to fab one myself, but maybe it has to be done that way? any info is appreciated.

Fabricate one is the only way... from previouse posts... including my own question when i first joined the site not to long ago... i hear that for the 2.5 the EGR chamber/valve is in the way and creates a hump in our hood... :dunno if this is true... but looking at the clearance between the two... i sure looks like it... the only way is to get a bar that will go around it...

3.2 TL's can, but they have to remove the plastic thing that covers the top of the engine...

well if i can't find anyone who makes one....does anyone have any directions on how to fab one...like steps they've seen or used. or maybe just the dimensions? if not i guess i could just get off my butt and try to figure it out. but right now it's ice cold out and i'm not a Paul Jr. type fabricator.

I can't imagine that they would be too too hard to fabricate. Do you have all the stuff to do it?

From a guy that used to browse this forum. I dont think It will be to hard to custom fab one though.

I dont think he has that one. That's a picture of someone elses. I personally dont think it would make that much of a difference unless you have an upgraded suspension, a bar in the rear, and a lightened car.

Also, I'm sure you can take one made for another car and mess with it (bend, cut) to get it to fit. I know someone took a prelude one and custom made it fit his legend..

I'm pretty sure it is his. It wouldnt be that hard to make one you just have to know how to weld and have access to tools. My friend made one for himself on our welding class at school. Total cost was like 50bucks for the supplies. But he did a rear, the fronts require you to go with the curve of the engine and have clearence with the hood which is a bit more complicated.

Yeah its mine, and thats a picture of my dirty engine bay. lol. There actually is a noticable difference in the rigidity of the car. When you take turns there is less body roll. Nothing spectacular, but it does make a difference you can feel. But like HQuakers said, a stiffer suspension and a rear brace would make an astounding difference, but with a stock suspension, you can still feel the difference in the ride.

Thats my plan. I HAD a strut bar (meant for a Legend) but it isnt made too well, so I'm looking for a new one.

Stiffer antiroll bars would help as well.

Ok, I was looking up some RL parts just for the heck of it, noticed that a strut bar is 80 bucks for a replacement. What I will do is find out if it is compatible with our 3.2 TL's. It may not be as the RL suspension is a bit different, so the mounting points could be off a bit.

On a side note, just checked for a Legend GS 4 door.. strut bar is about 40 bucks there. Again, will check for compatibility.

Good news:
I've found a strut tower bar for the 2.5 TL.

Bad news:
It's in Japan...

Wow! i may have to just fab one is that is the case lol. i bought one for $35 for my last car. it was for a cavalier but worked on mine too since my car has same engine (beretta). but 160 is too steep for me to be lazy. i just need dimensions! i shall have to measure i guess.

woot! that pic looks like my car! haha yah gab does make one, i got one about 3 years ago from valueTL. got it shipped from japan. the cost was like 125 for the bar and then 75 bucks for shipping. i would have to say it makes one hell of a difference. when i first got it it had the same effect of lowering my car for the first time. great investment.
