You can use a hose and some degreaser...just make sure that the electrical parts are protected.

yes.. i usually just cover up my air intake, and also the alternator... soak it with degreaser and let it sit... then hose everything off, and start the car to let the heat dry the engine... and its all good and clean... just did mine.. will post pics...

I also use a hose and degreaser....sometimes I go to a friends shop and use their high power/pressure hot water sprayer.I cover up the distributor cap.intake.After I'm done,I use air-hose extra water off.

I would cover distributor w/ large, heavy duty zip lock bag to prevent direct spray on the distributor. Never wash a hot engine. I use Simple Green sprayed on for a few minutes before washing w/ pressure washer. I try not to obsess about a little remaining dirt and just get the worst accumulations.

good luck

I have heard that you should never steam clean an engine. I can cause all kinds of electrical problems because of condensation related issues. Use a degreaser and a pressure washer.

The 2.5TL's have distributors at the back of the cylinder head.
