Hi all. I have purchased a 96 3.2TL a couple of days ago. Here is what i found yesterday: when i put a cd in the stereo it gives me a message CDPEC or CDPED and after a minute it ejects a CD.
The radio and tape work just fine though.
And I was trying different CD's, originals and burned, different brands. Nothing seems to work. Have anybody delt with this problem before? Any comments are greatly appreciated.

I ended up bringing it to Kromer Radio where they replaced the
LASER. It took a good 3 weeks because they had to order the parts from Panasonic Japan

 

How much was it, if you remember?

 

I had the same problem also, replaced the radio with an aftermarket one.

 

What sterios are you replacing the original with?
What makes and models?

 

You can try cleaning it but........

I replaced my factory radio with a Clarion ADX5655Z it's a double
din so it fits into the space left by the factory radio nice. I even kept the black factory bracket.

 

In my old TL i replaced it with an Eclipse 7001 in dash LCD. In my current car I have an Alpine CVA 1005

 

It cost me around $280 Cdn

 

I am having the same problem with my cd player I dont rem the error code but I think it was cdera or somting like that you think its worth trying to clean it...

 

i replaced my HU with the 2nd gen DVD navi screen and an Alpine HU. i say go with a new HU.

 

I had the same problem when i bought my car. you have to expect it though. the car is 5 years old. lasers don't last that long anyway. i tried to clean mine but it didn't help. i just replaced it with a new HU. i think that is the best course of action for you. I got a Kenwood XC-917.

 

hehe i'll sell my old HU if anyone wants it.
