Angry Starting Problems, Again

Well, my car is having problems starting again. Just replaced the starter a few months ago I took it to Kragen to get the alternatr tested and it was fine, battery is fully charged. What else could it be? The girl there said possibly a bad ground, ignition switch, starter relay, or that it could be binding somewhere when it's trying to start.

Let me guess, it clicks and doesn't start? You have to try about 5 or 10 times?

Starter contacts are bad.

right, as ken said, if it clicks and your battery is good then most likely it is the starter.

Took it back to the shop that I had put in the starter and they looked at it and told me that the stock alarm is drawing power when the car tries to start. probly didnt even need a new starter. Anyone know how to disable it easily, if not I'm taking it back in the morning to have them uninstall the stock alarm.

The stock alarm shouldn't be doing that much.

In my case, I sometimes notice an excess of calcium building up by the battery terminals. I brushed that off and now my car starts the first time.

There is NO WAY the stock alarm could draw enough power from the starter to cause it to malfunction during starting. Even if somehow the wiringis messed up and it is not getting power cut from it during start, the idle current drawm from the alarm circuitry is minimal. Should have absolutly no bearing on the car's ability to start.

It was bringing it down to 8V. They checked it.

Wow. Well I am VERY surprisedabout that. I've never seen an alarm draw that much current!! ESPECIALLY a factory one! Gald they figured it out for you though.

ok, I just went back and they changed their mind. It makes no sense. they had the electrical guy check it out and he said it's the starter now. I still want to get rid of the stock alarm because I'm gettin a new one soon, though. Now they're looking for another starter and they're gonna replace it again. the guy said he checked all the wiring and it was fine. Also, he said it doesn't have contacts, only the nippondenso's do, we have mitsuba's. Does anyone know how I can uninstall the stock alarm myself?

Ok, I have no idea if I've done this all wrong, but I just looked under the dash by the pedals and found the computer for the stock alarm (ungo). I just disconnected the harnesses from the computer andit seems like all I need to do is get rid of the rest of the wires that are coupled to the harnesses. Anything else that I'm missing?
