Start up problem

The first time I start my car each day, the starter has trouble. I turn the key and I hear the beginning of a start and then it just stops. Then, I do it again and it starts fine, and every time after that during that day it is fine. Does anyone know what might be going on?

thanks,
Will

yea that happend when i have little gas
check you oil as well... i just learned that lesson today... i was wondering why my car was sqeaking when i was driving and more wehn i was breaking that and my car would jump when i hit the gas and sometimes accerate very slow... when i was filling up in NJ $1.39 hehe i asked the guy to check the oil.. and i have almost none i filled up 2 bottles of 10-40w.... and not even 10 mins later all the noises stoped and the car actually felt like it had more power....

Here is the deal Willg 133 I had a problem like that and thought it was the gas thing because if I am real low on gas it makes it harder for the car to turn over Check this out though one day I had a full tank of gas and it did not start at all. I thought it was my battery but it turned out it was my starter that went. So if I were you I would get that checked out because lucky for me my car did not start in a safe place. Imagine if you were like at the mall or something. Also I don't know if you are still under warranty but you might want to check that out too. My car's warranty ran out but I had such low miles that the dealership I go to covered it for free. So check it out bro.

I had the same problem. It eventually got worse. It was the starter. $500! Thank God for extended warrantees.

I HAVE THAT PROBLEM TOO.. BUT IT ALWAYS HAPPEN 1ST START OF THE DAY. NOT GAS PROBLEM. JUST IN THE WINTER WHEN ITS REAL COLD OUT. SOMETIMES.. THE CAR JUST WONT START AT ALL. IF I TURN IT TO MUCH.. BATTERY WILL DRAIN. I LEAVE IF FOR COUPLE OF HOURS.. SOMTIME NEXT DAY THEN IT WILL START. THATS WHY I DONT TAKE IT OUT MUCH DURING WINTER.

hey guys/gals. its the starter. not fuel or anything else. my starter went bad around 75000 miles. i had an extended warranty, so it was covered. it always happened when i would first try to start the car....then it started getting worse, then it would happen almost everytime i would start the car.

I have the exact same problem- the car starts after the EXACT number of turns each time, unless I have less than 1/4 tank. Then it takes about 2 or 3 more turns before it gets going. I always let go of the key just before I know it's about to catch, but it's unpredictable below 1/4 of a tank. it's been like this ever since I bought the car (over 1yr). If it was specifically a starter problem, it would have gone by now. THere's something else to it.

Hello All,

I've been looking through these forums for a couple of months now, but this is my first post. I have a '97 3.2TL and I'm experiencing these same problems where it won't start the first time, but it'll start everytime thereafter. I wanted to know the best price people are getting for their parts? And also which brands? What is stock brand and what are some aftermarket brands? Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated... and TL's rock!

TIA,
Slagboy.
