yea i started up my car.. since i was low on gas i was like ohh yea thats the low gas light.. then i looked closer and said that it was the check engine light..
the car runs fine.. although i think its reving slightly different than before but maybe im just paranoid or something...
anyways does anyone know where i can go to get the code read for the check engine light aside from the stealership?? thanks
if it has to do anything with emissions i should be under the extended emissions warrenty cause im at 112,7XX miles right? and i just take it to the acura stealership and they'll fix it for fwee?

Every time I've had a check engine light in one of my Honda/Acura's, it's been either bad wires, bad plugs or a dirty air filter. Check those three first. Will usually read as an intermittent misfire. Check engine light CAN be a LOT of different things, but in my experience, checking/fixing those three will usually fix your problem.
Autozone should check your code for free.
I have the same problem. It's a bad rear O2 sensor on my 2.5.
it's like a $220 part, but I'm pretty sure it's easy to replace yourself.
I myself have been driving it like thise for about 20K miles

...or you can just bring it into the dealer and they will do it for you for free. I had my CEL on a while ago. I took it to Autozone and made sure it wasn't anything non-emissions related then I took it to the dealer and they did the repair for free plus a free car wash!!
Man, I wish we had this damned emissions thing up here in Canada!! Prolly could have had my head gasket changed for freea and avoided all the hassle I am going through!! MAN this car better be QUICK when this motor is FINALLY back together and IN the car~!!!!

well i got the code pulled.. man me and the guy working at autozone had the hardest time finding the OBDII connector port.. haha who wouldve thought to look behind the cointray
anyways it came out as P0141 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
so this means that i should just take it to the stealership and they'll fix it for free? do i gotta tell the dealership about that emissions recall thing? and how long does it take to fix? cause i wont really have time to fix it until after my finals next week

Ask them about if your car is under warranty...even though you know for sure it is. It'll take a few hours for the repair. Don't tell them what codes you got. Also, while at it, ask them to do a tune-up since you're qualified to do a free tune up. If you wish them to do the tune-up, then plan to ask them for a loaner because it'll take a whole day. It's not a big problem so you can wait until you're done with your finals. Plus, if you're going to ask them for a tune-up, then you need to let them know about a loaner at least a week or two in advance. Good luck!

What took all day for me was O2 sensor/exhaust manifold/ball joints (all for free)

actually would they lend me a loaner car since im <21 yrs old? dont really feel like hanging out at the dealership for however long it'll take to repair this (well depending on how long it'll take)

Man I have my check engine light on. But I have a 98 so Im not covered under the extendend emissions warranty. My brother is though, that lucky bastard, He has his 02 sensor go out like every 6 months it seems.

BTW... (sorry couldn't edit the above...) I was reading it... and came across something the stealership might as well come across too...
what does that mean...
take it to Oregon, Navada, or Arizona???

ok so i just got back from Acura of Riverside to fix my CEL.
freaking bastards charged me 96 dollars
to diagnose the problem and gimme a free carwash
so they pulled the trouble code P0141 what i got when i got it pulled at autozone
and so they just replaced the O2 Sensor and reset the ECU and test drove it and gave it back. ALL FOR FREE
so yea the car kinda smells different now.. dunno how to explain it kinda like when you get a new car
dont think its anything bad
took them 3 and a half hours to fix it so i just wandered around the dealership checked out the RL, TL, TSX, RSX, MDX,
and a NSX
i didnt believe that they had one on display turned out i wandered into a parking lot or something and it was someones personal car at the dealership
one thing i noticed that changed is that it revs quieter like before when i was driving around 80mph and the the RPM would be around 3400 if i tap on the gas a bit to accel the car would wail pretty loud now its not as loud
BTW i saw at least 4 other 1st gens in the service area 2.5s too

IF your car has under 150k on the odometer, Acura will repair that problem for free. At least they did it for my problem which was Both of the O2 Sensors. Honda and Acura have a Extended emissions warranty that covers your car for the O2 Sensors, Distributor Cap and Rotor, Ignition, Wires and Plugs, take it in and see what they say. They performed all of the above mentioned work in my car and it would have cost me about 950 and it was all done for free. Free.99 is the best. Especially when they give the car back to you nice and clean.
