Remote Keyless/Alarm not working
When I bought my 96 2.5TL Premium 3 years ago through the paper, I didn't get a remote - Is there a remote for the 96 TL? I called the dealer, and they didn't know what I was talking about...
Also, when I first got the car, for about a year, whenever I'd lock it with the keys from the outside, it would flash the security led in the driver door, and the alarm appeared to be working. One time I locked my keys in the car, and I had to open it using a coat hanger, and the alarm went off. Recently, I've noticed that it doesn't light up the led, and the alarm doesn't go off - well, sometimes it goes off sporadically, which I have no idea why... I think the alarm brain is fried or needs to be reset. Is it worth my time to try to fix the alarm or should I buy an aftermarket one?

I just wish the '96 came with a key fob on rainy days.

Turns out my alarm "is working". I called the local dealer, whom I've unfortunately had to deal with a lot (had to get my tranny replaced a year ago) - although he's a good guy any time I've got questions.. He told me to check the doors, trunk, and hood, to make sure they were all _completely_ closed. Well, turns out if I lock the door, then push down on the trunk, the security led starts flashing on the driver door. He said that could happen, and the cause would be a faulty sensor - either corroded, or misaligned.
Anyway, I found a keyless remote on ebay, and also a dealer's repair manual CD - hopefully I can figure out how to reprogram the keyless remote, and then I'll figure out why the trunk doesn't close all the way (as far as the actuator is concerned.)
I didn't really want a full-fledged alarm, just something to deter someone from breaking in and stealing my stereo. I'd rather not have to open the door with the key every time.

I hate the factory alarm. Look around, you can get a code alarm or viper installed for about $200. They both have loud beeps to help you find your car when you lose it in a big parking lot. The stero security integrade you will lose maybe, but who is going to steal a stock 1997 acura tl stereo?!?!?!!?
