Picture of my temperature gauge after 20 min of driving...
This was after almost 20 miles of driving at 65mph. Heater was on. It was in the low 50*'s. I think it should be higher. I know the gauge works because it has gone up in stop-n-go traffic. My MPG's are in around 21mpg mainly highway around 70mph. I wonder if I change the T-stat if it will get better.
Also, I have been using regular gas for the past 1000 miles. No problems what-so-ever.

A good test for thermostat is drive at steady 30mph. Car should not shift to 4th gear until coolant reaches closed loop (Usually around 140F). If you don't get a shift w/i 5 minutes, the thermostat is not operating correctly to warm the engine.
In your case, it's clear the thermostat needs replacement. OEM is best to get the quick warm up performance.
good luck

Using regular gas for 1000 miles is not going to affect your car in a noticeable way. It's not like if you fill up one time with regular gas your car stops working. Using regular gas may over years may cause negative affects. Just do what Acura says and use premium, especially since the gas they are giving us now is terrible. You need a new thermostat, replace it soon.

Hey my temp guage goes up to just below the middle mark and stays there within 1-2 mins of driving.
Is that bad?
I always thought that was kind of fast.
It never overheats though.
My integra takes about 5 mins to get there.

OP - It could also be your sending unit. Do your radiator hoses feel warm?
Above: I think you are o.k. Warming up fast though, but I would not worry about it. The only thing I would watch for this summer is a clogged radiator...

I would check this out ASAP as in NOW!!
If you know for sure that the thermostat is stuck open and the engine is not warming up, then OK, but you'll be wasting gas as the engine is not running efficiently.
If by any chance there is an air lock around the temperature sending unit (for whatever reason) then the engine could be overheating and you wouldn't know it until it was too late. This happened to me on my 1990 Honda Accord and I warped the head.
Remember, these are alloy engines and alloy heads: They warp easily.

I might change the thermostat just to be sure.
5point9Limited sorry for posting in your thread, and good luck with your problem.

I've burnt regular in my 2.5L TL for almost 2 yrs. I performed extensive monitoring of the timing w/ an OBD2 scanner to see what effect regular had on engine timing at cruise. I could not detect any significant difference and have never experienced a single "ping or clatter" under acceleration. I get 22-23 mpg around town and 25mpg on road w/o overdrive (a problem that can't be fixed short of a new transmission).
The 3.2L may be different, but does have the same adaptive timing capabilty (timing is retarded if pinging encountered). However, the engine may be more sensitive to octane rating than the 2.5L engine.
regards
