oem cd changers?

well since my cd player refuses to play cd's i was just wondering if the first gen's had a cd changer as an option? i am pretty sure they did being that plug in the back of the radio.
well can i buy a cd changer to play cds through the stock headunit. i dont want one of them fm modulator garbage things. well if they can have a cd changer then what do i have to get? the wire that goes from the headunit to a stck changer? can any changer work? is it expensive? anyone ever do it?
anyways anyone's intel on this one is greatlt appreciated. thanks alot in advance.

96-03 RL should be compatible.

'04 RL's have in-dash.

Get an iPod or an MP3 player that has huge capacity and import all your CD's to your iPod. My iPod has 6 full days of music if I ever play this 24/7. :p I haven't used my CD player (the CD portion) for this past week.

But if you insist...I believe many Honda changers will work since the back has the same plug as other Hondas.

I have the 6 disc changer. Unfortunately, when I got the car from my uncle, he misplaced the cd magazine - ill need to get one off ebay.

The OEM 6 disc changer is an alpine unit - many identify it by the fact that it has a green eject button. I believe that a changer from any early to mid 90's honda would do the job. It would just plug into the aux port on the back of our headunits. And it would take care of any cd playing problems.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

i have the 6 CD changer in the back. The ejector button is red though. It works very nicely.

You should just put a mini computer in your car dude!

Yeah, I have heard of them but it's just not worth the money, IMO. Unlike the iPod, the music keg isn't portable so it stays in your car at all times where I can unhook my iPod and put some headphones on and I can walk around listening to it.

It should be plug and play. I'm saying that because with my aux-in, I didn't do anything else and the HU went straight into cd-changer mode when I pressed the CD button twice.

You can use an Alpine CD changer, it will work with the stock Acura deck. ( I will double check that it's Alpine and get back to you to be safe...) OR you can get an adapter to make the deck THINK it has a changer, but it gives you an aux in to plug in an MP3 Player or a computer. From everything I've heard these work VERY well. I'm pissed cause they make one for every OEM deck a;most, and MOST aftermarket, EXCEPT for my Panansonic deck. I wanted to use this instead of an FM Modulator to run my DVD system, the FM gives shitty sound, this basically turns your CD CHanger input into an AUX input so you can get good quality sound. SOmething to think about. Anyways, I'll double check on what brand works with the Acura deck and get back to ya if you want to go that route, but I'm pretty sure it's Alpine.

i think wolfpack bill already did this. he got an adapter, and plugged it into the aux in port, so that he could play tunes from his ipod. Cost him $50 i believe.

hey sorry to bring up a kinda old thread but im thinking of getting the oem cd changer? how good is that changer? will it play burnt Cds better? my regular head unit plays burnt Cds but sometimes it doesnt read them and its a pain in the ass and dangerous when i want to switch CDs in the middle of driving. Also where does the unit mount? in the glove compartment? the center console? or in the trunk? (i hope not in the trunk, if it is do i have to run a wire from the HU all the way back to the trunk or is there something there already for me) anyways thanks in advance if anyone responds to this

I can't speak for the ability of the changer to play sounds, as I've never had the Acura one, BUT as for mounting, you can mount it where-ever you want to. If you are the one that has to run the cable anyways, you can run it to wherever you want to.
