Unhappy No heat

Actually very slow heat. My (new to me) 1996 2.5TL takes a long time to kick out any heat, then it's variable even when the temp is set on 90. The temp gauge needle never gets to horizontal.

Think the thermostat is faulty?

Thanks for the help!

Did you check the Anti-Freeze? Make sure its full. If it is, then you should go to the dealer.

At least it isnt your head gasket cause if that goes you would get no heat and then your engine would run hot and warp the cylinder heads and probably have about 1200-1500 in repairs cause that happened to one of my friends on his Eclipse.

Thanks for the help. Guess I'll try a new thermostat and hope it's not the head gasket. Next question --

Where's the thermostat? Is it up top or down below the radiator?

It should be on the top on one of the Main Hoses leading from the Radiator into the Engine, right next to the bleeder valve. I wish i took a pic of my engine compartment this way I could show you.

Just talked to the Acura dealer. According to their service dept, replacing the thermostat IS a big deal. Says the air needs to be removed from the radiator once the system is opened up. Otherwise it can burst! Never heard of this. Soundd like a scare tactic but I guess I'll take it in.

Yeah I changed the thermostat in my 325 and I had to bleed the system after. It was pretty easy. There was a bleeder on the thermostat. All you do is open it and let some anti-freeze out until it comes out smoothly without any air bubbles. I'm not sure if thats the right way but I never had any problems and my mom drives it now 2 years later. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
